...I got home a couple of nights ago, turned on my PC and settled down to eat a packet (or at least part of a packet) of Fruit Pastilles only to discover in horror, that in my hurry to pick up the local newspaper and something to chew on, on the way home from work, I'd made a bit of a boob and must have picked up a packet of Wine Pastilles in error. The look on my face must have been comical, my other half said I looked like a little spoilt child with my bottom lip stuck out, and eyes bulging like they were about to burst. Fine Virgin Wines

Advantages: Great value boutique wines
Disadvantages: The on-line wine auctions are addictive!

...I have been buying from Virgin Wines for about three years and I have been consistently impressed with the quality and value for money of their wines. They have got a very good range of wines from all around the world, which vary in price from as little as £4 right up to £85 for a bottle of Dom Perignon 2000. I belong to their Wine Bank, which is effectively a loyalty programme. You pay £20 each month into the Wine Bank and every three months Virgin Wines will add another £20 in interest, so when you come to buy your wine you effectively get 25% off. You can pay more into your Wine Bank if you want to and you will be rewarded with a reciprocal amount of interest (i.e. £30 a month would attract £30 interest and so on). Because most of the wines they stock are generally small production 'boutique' wines, you cannot buy them anywhere...

Theatre of Dreams - Old Trafford

Advantages: The best team in the world, good facilities

...I have visited Old Trafford twice in 2 seasons now specifically for the United v City Derby. The ground has good transport links to Manchester via Tram, Bus, Car and "Football special" train. Initially I had some reservations about attending the ground for such a "hard fought" fixture, however the reception of fans and organisation was most excellent. I would recommend catching one of 3 special football trains from Manchester Piccadilly (on match days) to get you to the ground in around 10 minutes.... these trains are two commuter style trains that are joined together - arrive totally empty and can generally find space, with some standing, for everyone who is waiting. The train drops you off by the south Stand, which is not far from the away section, major entrances to stands and the club shop. Match days are very well policed...

Gather around I am making Wine, 30 bottles in 3 weeks

Advantages: quick easy no problems and tastes great
Disadvantages: if you dont know home made wine, you could make the mistake of thinking it is weakish, but wait

...thinks yeuk I bet its awful and done in the old way with a bit of toast on it lol. I have not as I said made this for a few years and in that time my children are young adults that like a taste of wine and I think they thought their old mum was just messing around and all three were shocked that it was so good. In fact they all are going to buy kits for me to make for them cheekily. By the way carafe 21 does all kinds of 3 week wine from red, rose, dry white, sweet etc. If you are looking for a new hobby I would definately have a go at this as once you have the equiptment you are away I worked it out to £23 all in for 30 and yes it IS good, real good wine. Thank you for reading and no I resisted the temptation to have a taste while doing this! Summary: make 30 bottles of superb wine in 3 weeks...

Whine, whine and mmmmmm Wine !!

Advantages: Easy to drink with nearly anything

You know.... , you bang your head when you get out of bed...only to find you've run out of paracetamol, you go downstairs to find the dishwasher has leaked in the night, and so has the cat and you rush round doing lunchboxes, race son to school so he's not late only to find it's Saturday.
