Same old Story, but this time England won
Advantages: England won! Afzaal looked good, for bringing in young players, and Butcher in the second innings was amazing. Vast improvement on England's last few tests.
Disadvantages: Australia are still a big threat, and will not be content with 3 wins, they want it all.
...England have already lost the Ashes to Australia, and now looking to desperately avoid a 5-0 whitewash in the series. Having lost the first three tests easily, England could only get better, while Australia seem unstoppable, outclassing their opponents in every department. Will this fourth test at Headingly, Leeds be any different? Read on for my match report and comments on the teams.
The Teams
England:
England make a few forced and unforced changes, a factor that could have been a costly factor in their downfall, that no-one is sure of their place, and having to get used to new batting and fielding partnerships. Captain Nasser Hussain returns from injury to lead his side, but Graham Thorpe is forced to miss out. Croft is dropped, in favour of an extra batsman, and Craig White is removed with Alan Mullally taking his place as...

Celebrating England
Advantages: looks cute
Disadvantages: retired
...means TY no longer manufacture him. However never fear, you still may be able to buy him from Car boot sales or places such as eBay. Though this does mean prices will vary. He may be expensive as he is antique, but could be cheap since he is so old! I would pay around £5 or £6 for him personally. He is quite a special bear, representing something which is close in many people's hearts, so is worth that little bit more that many other TY bears.
England is an adorable bear that is for sure, but he is also very special in the fact that he represents England as a country. He is a TY to be proud of and is not one to be absent from anybody's collection.

England Cricket Team Part 1
Advantages: Side hard to beat
Disadvantages: Often wrong team selected
...-day stuff. Nowadays kids cannot even see live one-day cricket unless their parents are rich enough to afford Sky.
One-day cricket is a difficult form to master. Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya failed to make a century in his first 100 one-day internationals. But now runs flow off his bat.
What England need to do is to define how they want to play the one-day game and pick the appropriate players for this plan.
Gloucestershire have won 5 one-day trophies in the past 3 years but none of their players have been picked.
The Ashes have been lost in record time (11 days). Australia used the one-day games to gain a psychological advantage over England. Old scars were reopened. Really England would have been defeated regardless which team they put out.
England’s batting suffered as their main batsmen Nasser Hussain, Graham...

England Football Team Part 1
Advantages: Sven has improved the confidence of the players
Disadvantages: Not enough of the squad play abroad
....
England was drawn with Tunisia, Romania and Columbia at the group stage.
England beat Tunisia 2-0 with a great second goal from Paul Scholes.
England lost 2-1 to Romania thanks to a mistake by Graeme Le Saux.
England beat Columbia 2-0. David Beckham in the centre of midfield had an excellent match.
In the second round England met old foes Argentina. The score after 90 minutes was 2-2. Michael Owen scored a brilliant individual effort. But David Beckham was sent off for an innocuous foul on Diego Simeone.
England lost this game on penalties. Paul Ince and David Batty were the culprits.
Remarkably Hoddle was sacked about his controversial views on reincarnation which is not really a football matter. No wonder English football has shot itself in the foot so often.
Kevin Keegan of Fulham took over.

This is England.... apparently!
Advantages: Dark, gritty & enthrawling
Disadvantages: A bit slow at times
...for on the British film scene. This Is England is his biggest film to date however he?s worked on a quite a few others such as the lesser known: A Room For Romeo Brass & Dead Man?s Shoes.
The main stars of the film are played by Thomas Turgoose who plays 12 year old Shaun & Stephen Graham who plays racist bigot Combo. Thomas Turgoose, who?s now 16 has appeared in British horror film Eden Lake & another Shane Meadow?s film Somers Town. Stephen Graham who throughout the film I was scratching my head trying to recall where I?d seen him before is actually the guy in the Artic Monkey?s video for ?When The Sun Goes Down? apart from that he?s appeared in several films including: Snatch, Gangs Of New York & Goal.
The film is set in 1983 & basically revolves around 12 year old Shaun (Thomas Turgoose) who, after being involved in a fight at school is...

This is England
Advantages: Thomas Turgoose, British, nostalga, powerful, thought provoking
Disadvantages: Depressing
...Being a "Skinhead Movie" it is inevitable that This is England gets compared to American History X. Whereas Shane Meadows' epic portrayal of 1980s Britain isn't as much a social commentary about racism and how to overcome it as American History X is, it does, however, provide the perfect mix of nostalgia, individual insecurity, and violent bigotry that makes This is England a personal and powerful experience best approached with your grandmother's old English hanky.
What a weird and wonderful era the 1980s was in Britain. If you're fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to remember a time when Roland Rat and Maggie Thatcher ruled our televisions then you'll find yourself bathing in a mix of nostalgic excitement and/or restraining yourself from smashing the TV to a pulp with the film's opening montage. This sets the menacing air...

ENGLAND
Advantages: Will win a match one day soon.
Disadvantages: when will that day be?
...The current England cricket team has just started a tour of Zimbabwe after an unsuccessful series against Australia where they found the current world champions far to strong a team and lost the series 1-4 after being completely outplayed in the one-day games.
However, they appear to have learnt from this experience and currently have won all the three games that have been played so far, this despite fielding a team containing new young players. This brought on by the absence of senior player who were unwilling to join the tour party. It does however provide a good opportunity to introduce new players to international cricket and give them valuable experience.
Whilst Zimbabwe are not the sternest opposition England started this tour having lost the last 11 one day games they have played so confidence was not at the highest however...

Theatre of Dreams - Old Trafford
Advantages: The best team in the world, good facilities
Disadvantages: Expensive and busy
...I have visited Old Trafford twice in 2 seasons now specifically for the United v City Derby. The ground has good transport links to Manchester via Tram, Bus, Car and "Football special" train. Initially I had some reservations about attending the ground for such a "hard fought" fixture, however the reception of fans and organisation was most excellent.
I would recommend catching one of 3 special football trains from Manchester Piccadilly (on match days) to get you to the ground in around 10 minutes.... these trains are two commuter style trains that are joined together - arrive totally empty and can generally find space, with some standing, for everyone who is waiting.
The train drops you off by the south Stand, which is not far from the away section, major entrances to stands and the club shop. Match days are very well policed...

One of the finest Elizabethan houses in England
Advantages: Lots of history, plenty to see and do
Disadvantages: Quite expensive for non National Trust members
...If you have ever wondered what an old English country manor house looked like in its heyday then you might want to consider a visit to Hardwick Hall.
Perched on the top of a hill between Chesterfield in North East Derbyshire and Mansfield in North Nottinghamshire this house can be seen from the M1 motorway. If you are travelling southbound between junctions 28 and 29 it can be seen in the distance to your left. Hardwick Hall was the family home of Elizabeth Hardwick, usually referred to as "Bess of Hardwick", who eventually became, through marriage, the Countess of Shrewsbury. Hardwick Hall is now in the care of The National Trust.
Five hundred years ago Elizabeth Hardwick was the second richest woman in England, with a fortune surpassed only by that of Queen Elizabeth 1. With this incredible wealth came an enormous amount...

Corsets and Kinky Boots in Old England
Advantages: You'll come away glad to be living in the 20th Century
Disadvantages: It's not really all that exciting
...I live in rural Northamptonshire in a part of the county that could fairly be described as 'quaint' or 'quiet' or even 'pretty'. It should therefore come as no surprise that it's also - at times - a bit on the dull side. In fact, I'd go as far as to suggest that Northamptonshire and the southern end of the neighbouring county of Leicestershire are actually pretty much 'closed' during the winter months. In the summer we are bursting with stately homes a-plenty but nothing opens before Easter. The gentry of the area are clearly in hibernation - probably tucked up with their foxhounds and saving on their heating bills.
A couple of weeks ago I had a visitor - a girl from Colorado who's the daughter of a guy who used to work for the American arm of my old employers. So when I heard that Lauren was coming to the UK as part of her university...
