Olympus µ[MJU:] 700 Digital

Advantages: Lightweight, robust, sexy looks, simple to use
Disadvantages: out of date in camera menu.

...Have owned the 700 for 6 months now and am overall very impressed. Its got all the features you need for a fun camera. 23 different "scenes" of which i only use 3 or 4 are very useful, meaning you dont have to fiddle around with different settings. Just choose the scene you are in, for instance 'nightime' and click away. The video function works well as well and as a budding golfer i have used the camera to take videos of my swing analysing it on the Olympus Master program on my laptop. The design is slick and sexy, the front panel is curved which i think is just for aesthetic reasons, but it feels nice in your palm and the weight of the camera has to be one of its main advantages. A winner from Olympus

Advantages: All weather build, great results

...I am planning to do some touring on my cycle and required a camera that not only was lightweight and weather-proof but also took reasonable quality photos. I used to take a Leica M4-P with a Summilux 35mm lens on such journeys It requires no batteries and has been submerged in puddles more than once and survived. However the cost of roll film is now a becoming drawback. Digital photography has the main advantage of disposible imagery but the disadvantages of being subject to water damage and always requiring battery power (when camping the opportunities for recharging are probably zero) I already have an Olympus E-510 with a 14-54mm zoom lens that produces good quality pics, but is not puddle-proof. olympus, .... king of cameras!

...I actually bought the blue coloured mju 700, purely for the fact that i just really love the colour. you'll find that the mju 700 is available in silver, orange and blue. from what i've found searching around for the best deal, the blue is the most expensive, then the orange, then the silver (which is the cheaper of all three colours: available for about £163.89). even so, i bought this camera for £173.90 (from amazon.co.uk), and am absolutely delighted with it. i only ever buy olympus digital cameras (as i would a manual camera). it's a brand that i've used for many years that i trust and have had continuous quality results from. when i opened the box, i couldn't believe how light and slimline this camera was.....honestly, its sooooo diddy! everything was neatly concealed in this small blue olympus box (see list below of contents...

...As most members on here will by now know, I am a professional photographer and some may well also be aware of the fact that I do a lot of camera testing. I have been testing some point and shoot digital cameras for the last week to find out just how good they really are and will now spend the next few days reviewing them for you guys starting with the Olympus MJU 1010. This Olympus camera comes in either silver or blue with a pink one to be added soon I believe, It looks good and feels good (if a bit light) in the hand but the actual using of the camera is very fiddly due to the small buttons and the dial being very small. The actual pictures produced by the camera varied dramatically depending on the settings used. With a large 10.1 megapixels at your fingertips you would expect to be getting very clear and colourful pictures...

...I'm quite a picky one when it comes to buying expensive items of kit. I want a lot for my money! I had been using my casio digital camera for the past five years so I was well past an update - it was only 3.2 mega pixels, my daughters phone is double that now! Anyway the rechargeable battery was no longer holding its charge so it was time for an upgrade. I created a tick list of the features that I would like my new camera to have, but it boiled down to the fact that I wanted everything, all in one package! I enjoy skiing so was looking for something to that could handle the rough and tumble of the slopes (I'm not very good, so falling is an occupational hazzard - you don't want a smashed camera in your pocket) The Olympus Mju 1030 ticked that box - it's shock proof and metal cased.
