Olympus MJU 770 SW

Advantages: water-proof, drop-proof, shock-proof and takes great pictures
Disadvantages: lens in top left corner so wouldn't suit those with huge hands

...I bought this about 8 weeks ago from clickto.co.uk for just over £225 including delivery, and I haven't stopped smiling since it arrived The olympus MJU 770 SW is a fabulous camera in every way, it's small, light, waterproof, drop proof, and you can stand on it if you so wish as long as you are under 100 kilograms I bought it to travel with and spent many a happy day snorkelling in hurghada recently, it takes simply stunning underwater shots and I can not recommend it highly enough the batter life is very reasonable, shot time is quick, display bright and clear in fact the only negative point would only affect those with big hands, sometimes your finger may obscure the lens as it's in the top left corner so you need to be aware of finger placement but apart from that it's a fantastic camera and I can't see me changing mine...

A winner from Olympus

Advantages: All weather build, great results
Disadvantages: No remote

...I am planning to do some touring on my cycle and required a camera that not only was lightweight and weather-proof but also took reasonable quality photos. I used to take a Leica M4-P with a Summilux 35mm lens on such journeys It requires no batteries and has been submerged in puddles more than once and survived. However the cost of roll film is now a becoming drawback. Digital photography has the main advantage of disposible imagery but the disadvantages of being subject to water damage and always requiring battery power (when camping the opportunities for recharging are probably zero) I already have an Olympus E-510 with a 14-54mm zoom lens that produces good quality pics, but is not puddle-proof. It does use XD cards though so I already had some to use in the 1030SW - No card is supplied with the 1030SW (These Xd type M...

A camera that really can do it all!

Advantages: Outstanding Durability. Looks good. Good Battery Life.
Disadvantages: Can be difficult to take pictures in direct sunlight. Screen can become scratched after heavy use.

..., although at 7.1 megapixels not outstanding, and the video is also good despite the slightly tinny sound... Take care to always wash the camera after excursions in salt water and the salt and sand can cause the lens cover to become blocked, leaving the lens unprotected. The menu and Olympus computer software is very easy to use and navigate and pictures are transferred very quickly to the computer, there are also a wide range of shooting modes availably on the camera including one specifically for fireworks! In short this camera is able to do things that others can only accomplish with very bulky extra cases, it looks good and fits easily in your pocket so is suitable for virtually every occasion....

...I'm quite a picky one when it comes to buying expensive items of kit. I want a lot for my money! I had been using my casio digital camera for the past five years so I was well past an update - it was only 3.2 mega pixels, my daughters phone is double that now! Anyway the rechargeable battery was no longer holding its charge so it was time for an upgrade. I created a tick list of the features that I would like my new camera to have, but it boiled down to the fact that I wanted everything, all in one package! I enjoy skiing so was looking for something to that could handle the rough and tumble of the slopes (I'm not very good, so falling is an occupational hazzard - you don't want a smashed camera in your pocket) The Olympus Mju 1030 ticked that box - it's shock proof and metal cased. A poor offering from Olympus

Advantages: Takes AAA batteries and....er.....er...hmmmm.... takes AAA batteries
Disadvantages: Awful screen, not user friendly, feels cheap and nasty, made out of inferior materials etc. etc.
