My Review of the Olympus Camedia C-460 Zoom

Advantages: Easy to use if I can use it
Disadvantages: No Rechargeable Batteries

...The Olympus Camedia C-460 Zoom: My Review for the Olympus C-460 :) I got the Olympus Camedia C-460 from Curry's, I paid about £170 for it. I was very cheeky and said "what do I get if I buy it from here" they asked me what did I mean and told them "I wanted a bigger memory card free" after a bit of haggling I got the 512 meg card for a £10, They was selling them for £30. If you don't ask you will never know, I got a pc for a friend from Comet about 2 years ago and got them a printer free :) I got home and the first thing i found as with a lot of cameras etc was no batteries. Why or why do they just not put the price up by £10 and add the rechargeable packs? Lets get on with it....The box is nice and has loads of information on it. Covers the specifications of the camera etc. Open the box and oh look a little bit...

...I received this as a Christmas present in 2003. My dad is a keen photographer and recommended Olympus as a good make when I was on the lookout for a digital camera. It was priced at around £180 depending on where you bought it, which was about average for a non-professional digital camera at the time. It's easy to just plug it into your PC with the special USB wire, though I would recommend a card reader because plugging the camera in for too long drains battery supply as it doesn't run straight from the computer. Get recharable batteries, for your purse and for the enviroment! I got the Olympus recharger with the camera. I don't know whether this only came with my camera as an extra gift or if it comes with the camera anyway. The slots for the memory card and batteries are brilliant because in a few seconds you can change batteries or change card, not like with some cameras which have covers which are hard to open, these open with ease, there is no need to force anything. Overall Look & Design Ok, this camera isnt as sleek and refined as other cheap cameras on the market, but style is not...

Advantages: Nice zoom lens, good picture quality, nice controls, looks pretty good
Disadvantages: Eats batteries! Not too suitable for action photography.

...don't tend to need any adobe photo-shop treatment. Minus points: Boy, does it eat AA batteries!! (4 at a time)- Even with the back screen default set to off, review off and power save on, you have to be ready for the last gasp red battery warning after a couple of hours. I go to airshows quite a lot and for a full day's photography I usually have AT LEAST 16x rechargeable 2300mAh AA cells in my bag! - I would be anxious with any less. For action shots it is less than ideal, due to the almost 3/4 second it takes from pressing the shutter, to the shot being taken. During this delay, the viewfinder goes black. I know this is the case with many compacts, but I kind of expected better performance from Olympus. My only way round this was to set it to take 3 frames continuous, as this does speed up the subsequent metering and shutter time...

...thumbnails of each photo, making it easier to jump from photo to photo. It has a timer function too, which comes in handy to take shots without needing someone to hold it for you. The camera comes complete with camedia software, which is a program to download and modify each picture quickly and easily. AND! it also has a movie clip function. although only 15 seconds long, and without sound, it is a great way of videoing those lovely landscapes, or a person, or whatever you desire. The camera also has the ability of panorama, 2 in 1 (two pictures which link together) and portrait for family photos. In all, this camera is amazing for the price of it. Offers you many functions, and a variety of photographic tools. Only drawback is that it doesnt come with a case, so therefore there's a risk of scratching the screen. but thats nothing that...
