Olympus - the peak of cameras
Advantages: Superb Quality
Disadvantages: Expensive and big compared to the compacts
...1 A Tough Market
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Olympus has a long history of brilliant cameras and lenses.
It finds itself in a tough world as far as digital SLR cameras are concerned.
The other big names - Nikon and Canon, have a huge section of the market already. Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and Pentax are eager rivals, but Olympus is determined not to get left behind.
Their E series, and especially their latest models, are crossing new frontiers and making ground against the other firms.
2 General Features
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Let's take a minute to note what the E-400 has in common with the other SLRs that you might contemplate.!
The benefit of a Single Lens Reflex camera has always been that what you see through the viewfinder, is what you are going to get in your photograph.
A mirror reflects what is coming through the lens...

olympus, .... king of cameras!
Advantages: slimline, compact, quality!
Disadvantages: no viewfinder....thats about it!
...I actually bought the blue coloured mju 700, purely for the fact that i just really love the colour. you'll find that the mju 700 is available in silver, orange and blue. from what i've found searching around for the best deal, the blue is the most expensive, then the orange, then the silver (which is the cheaper of all three colours: available for about £163.89). even so, i bought this camera for £173.90 (from amazon.co.uk), and am absolutely delighted with it. i only ever buy olympus digital cameras (as i would a manual camera). it's a brand that i've used for many years that i trust and have had continuous quality results from.
when i opened the box, i couldn't believe how light and slimline this camera was.....honestly, its sooooo diddy! everything was neatly concealed in this small blue olympus box (see list below of contents...

Olympus sp-570, a great compact camera with slr features.
Advantages: Incredible zoom, macro mode and very easy to use
Disadvantages: No rechargeable batteries and uninspiring LCD screen.
...of cloudy landscapes and some situations indoors on the automatic setting, but using the correct scene mode dramatically improves this. With the full manual controls available on this camera for those that are interested, you can ensure your shot comes out exactly as you want it to, every time.
At under £200 this camera is also one of the best value point and shoots available on the market, but it doesn't support HD video. This wasn't really a problem for me as I wanted a high end compact camera, not a camcorder, but may be for others who seek a modern all in one package.
The bad points.
Olympus have built one of the best compact cameras ever made as far as I'm concerned, but seem to have forgotten to provide a rechargeable battery. Whilst this may not be a major problem to a lot of people, I can happily take up to 200 shots a day when...

Getting Your Kid Into Digital Cameras
Advantages: Features Like Any Regular Digital Camera
Disadvantages: 16 MB Internal Memory and No Zoom Capabilities
...No digital camera review on CIAO would be complete without a few entries about cameras designed for kids. After all, kids are almost universally enthusiastic about taking pictures. And parents with a love of photography often pass down their passion to their children. But digital cameras are not always kid-friendly, due to fragile construction, price, or complicated menus and buttons. The newest trend in children's electronics is a group of digital cameras made especially for small children. These cameras are easy to hold, come in bright colors that kids love, and have many of the same features as grown-up digital cameras. Kids love them.
The VTech KidiZoom Digital Camera is one of the top digital cameras for kids. This camera was made with fun in mind. Kids like the KidiZoom's large LCD screen and the onboard photo editing options...

Olympus C920 Digital Camera
Advantages: Low cost, good looks, high image quality, TFT screen
Disadvantages: Slow transfer speeds to the PC using the serial lead
...After a brief jaunt into the world of digital cameras with a simple little webcam, I decided to splash out on a full digital camera.
After a while looking at what was on offer, I decided on the Olympus C-920 digital camera. The camera itself is a sleek looking design, with a metallic golden tinge. a sliding lens cap activates the camera, and the lens protrudes from within the camera once the lens cover is slid back. There is also a built-in flash for low light conditions.
On the back, there are a few buttons for controlling the camera, along side a high quality 1.8" TFT screen for viewing the pictures you have taken, or for previewing your shot before you take it, instead of using the more traditional view-finder.
The camera's resolution is a respectable 1280x960, making the CCD a healthy 1.3 megapixels in size. At SHQ...

A poor offering from Olympus
Advantages: Takes AAA batteries and....er.....er...hmmmm.... takes AAA batteries
Disadvantages: Awful screen, not user friendly, feels cheap and nasty, made out of inferior materials etc. etc.
...I needed a new digital camera and fast and only having the ability to get to Argos (because of the late night opening times) the camera had to be available from Argos. The other criteria I set included a minimum of 12 mega pixels, face detection, a large screen, powered by AAA batteries and costing no more than £100. With the large number of cameras satisfying my criteria I thought I would have no problems in finding something suitable, it?s just a shame the Argos in Norwich is so poor and seems to have very little stock, so my choice was limited.
Since my first and second choices were out, I only had the option of three other models and the one I decided upon (without doing any research whatsoever) was the Olympus X-42. I had previously owned an Olympus and I was more than happy with it. I knew the Olympus brand and knew...

Olympus FE-150 Digital Camera Review
Advantages: Good quality, durable, long battery-life and easy-to-use
Disadvantages: use xD card (high price)
...Good quality, durable, long battery-life and easy-to-use are my preference in choosing a digital camera and this Olympus FE-150 responses all my need.
Firstly, 5.0 Mega pixels delivers as much detailed pictures as an amatuer photographer needed. Many people believe that higher resolution digital cameras (e.g. 7.0M, 10.0M) produce better quality photos but it is not always true because many of them never turn-on 'Maximum' resolution to save memord card space. I'm using sub-maximum quality and it produces good quality photos for me.
Secondly, I've used this camera for more than a year and it's metallic design makes it durable and easy-to-clean. It did accidentally fall to the ground for a few times but still working as good as it should.
Thirdly, unlike some products, Li-ion rechargeable battery which is included in...

Olympus - god of the camera world
Advantages: Fully automatic, small, light, easy to use, generous zoom, fantastic results.
Disadvantages: Friends will think you're a professional and demand photo-shoots.
...Wow! For the first time in my life, I am proud...yes PROUD!...to show off the contents of my photo albums! Indeed, I have turned into the type of person that friends and family dread when popping round for a cuppa! Within 10 minutes of them entering the room, out come the photos and no one leaves the room until the appropriate noises of approval have been heard! This probably conjurs up images of me standing over my visitors with a red hot poker in hand, demanding the ooohs and aaahs, but NO! They actually come voluntarily!
THe Olympus uII Zoom 80 is the sole reason my friends think I've taken up professional photography. No more faffing around with 100's of features, no more point and praying, no more sighs of 'oh dear' when the photos come back with Aunt Mabel's head chopped off. The instructions are clear, the features are...
