Testing the Olympus, 1, 2 ,3 ...

Advantages: Great storage, wireless and portable, no tapes!
Disadvantages: Takes AAA batteries which expire fast, not well thought out.

The colour is decribed as "champagne gold" but don't let the elegance fool you- the internal memory of the device stores up to 138 hours of recording time (in WMA file format), or 512MB. A poor offering from Olympus

Advantages: Takes AAA batteries and....er.....er...hmmmm.... takes AAA batteries
Disadvantages: Awful screen, not user friendly, feels cheap and nasty, made out of inferior materials etc. etc.

A very disappointing product from Olympus

Advantages: very neat, easy to connect to a PC, runs for ages on a single AAA battery
Disadvantages: feels and looks cheap/nasty, fiddly controls, sound quality not the best

...prices. The second thing that struck me about WS-331M was: not only did it look cheap 'n' nasty, it felt so as well. The case is made of shiny black plastic of the type prone to easy scratching. And because Olympus was too mean to supply a protective case, in a rucksack or a handbag scratches will appear after no time. Also - the control buttons are very small and fiddly, which may cause problems for people with short nails and fat fingers (many blokes). So I would say that WS-331M is a 'she' rather than a 'he'. To support this 'her' measurements amount to a very neat 94.8mm long by 38.6 mm wide by 11mm thick, without protrusions. Pity they don't make one in pink. They should. Olympus E-30. Still not up there with the big boys?

Advantages: Fold out LCD screen, Image Stabilization, Zuiko lens quality, Picture quality, Flash options
Disadvantages: Noise in low light, Too many buttons, Badly laid out, Too many gimmicks

...The E-30 is Olympus's own stepping-stone between the so-called "prosumer" models (what an awful word) and the E-3 professional SLR, being loosely comparable with the likes of the Canon EOS 50D, the Nikon D90 and the Sony Alpha A-350. It shares a lot of the E-3's features and has even overtaken the E-3 in terms of resolution, offering 12mp compared with the E-3's 10. Unfortunately - or fortunately, depending on your opinion - some of its features are things that serious photographers don't really want on their cameras and definitely push the E-30 towards the hobby photographers rather than the professionals.
