...I am planning to do some touring on my cycle and required a camera that not only was lightweight and weather-proof but also took reasonable quality photos. I used to take a Leica M4-P with a Summilux 35mm lens on such journeys It requires no batteries and has been submerged in puddles more than once and survived. However the cost of roll film is now a becoming drawback. Digital photography has the main advantage of disposible imagery but the disadvantages of being subject to water damage and always requiring battery power (when camping the opportunities for recharging are probably zero) I already have an Olympus E-510 with a 14-54mm zoom lens that produces good quality pics, but is not puddle-proof. Child Friendly Camera, Ideal for Families!!

...I'm quite a picky one when it comes to buying expensive items of kit. I want a lot for my money! I had been using my casio digital camera for the past five years so I was well past an update - it was only 3.2 mega pixels, my daughters phone is double that now! Anyway the rechargeable battery was no longer holding its charge so it was time for an upgrade. I created a tick list of the features that I would like my new camera to have, but it boiled down to the fact that I wanted everything, all in one package! I enjoy skiing so was looking for something to that could handle the rough and tumble of the slopes (I'm not very good, so falling is an occupational hazzard - you don't want a smashed camera in your pocket) The Olympus Mju 1030 ticked that box - it's shock proof and metal cased. Review of Olympus µ[MJU:] 1030 SW

Olympus's Latest [Mju:] and it's a SCREAMER!!

Advantages: small and light, metal body giving a sophisticated look and feel, easy to operate, weather proof
Disadvantages: the memory card is different from my previous Olympus digital camera, image quality at dimly lit environment is somewhat questionable, software supplied not up to standard

But I think the box content should be the same, as in Europe and Asia the camera is called the Mju series, but it?s known as Stylus in the U.S. I think most probably the biggest difference is that mine comes with a bilingual (English Mandarin) manual and the camera itself contains Mandarin language. Basically at a glance, the major improvement for the Mju: 410 model is its ability to record movie clip with, YES!!!, you can record the clip with sound. I have to admit before I continue any further, that I am a big fan of the Mju series, and the reason I haven?t got the 300 or 400 was because they can't record any audio with the movie clip. Olympus µ[MJU:] 700 Digital

Advantages: Lightweight, robust, sexy looks, simple to use
Disadvantages: out of date in camera menu.

...Have owned the 700 for 6 months now and am overall very impressed. Its got all the features you need for a fun camera. 23 different "scenes" of which i only use 3 or 4 are very useful, meaning you dont have to fiddle around with different settings. Just choose the scene you are in, for instance 'nightime' and click away. The video function works well as well and as a budding golfer i have used the camera to take videos of my swing analysing it on the Olympus Master program on my laptop. The design is slick and sexy, the front panel is curved which i think is just for aesthetic reasons, but it feels nice in your palm and the weight of the camera has to be one of its main advantages. MY MJU TOY IS A JOY!

Advantages: large viewfinder, decent battery life, user-friendly, many different modes

The Olympus u[MJU:] 400 Digital Camera.

Advantages: Compact, Lightweight, Stylish and 4.0 megapixels means you can print up to A3, still with a high quality printout.
Disadvantages: No protective case included and the larger xD-Picture Cards are highly priced.

Olympus MJU 770 SW

Advantages: water-proof, drop-proof, shock-proof and takes great pictures
Disadvantages: lens in top left corner so wouldn't suit those with huge hands

...I bought this about 8 weeks ago from clickto.co.uk for just over £225 including delivery, and I haven't stopped smiling since it arrived The olympus MJU 770 SW is a fabulous camera in every way, it's small, light, waterproof, drop proof, and you can stand on it if you so wish as long as you are under 100 kilograms I bought it to travel with and spent many a happy day snorkelling in hurghada recently, it takes simply stunning underwater shots and I can not recommend it highly enough the batter life is very reasonable, shot time is quick, display bright and clear in fact the only negative point would only affect those with big hands, sometimes your finger may obscure the lens as it's in the top left corner so you need to be aware of finger placement but apart from that it's a fantastic camera and I can't see me changing mine...

Review of Olympus µ[MJU:] 770 SW

Olympus MJU 700 - a fantastic, versatile camera

Advantages: Wide range of settings, and very user friendly
Disadvantages: Expsoure can be a problem, also viewfinder

...I have recently switched from an earlier Olympus 3MP camera to this MJU 700, and have largely felt nothing but joy when using this camera. The body of this camera has been designed extremely well, and is sleek and stylish, not to mention being available is some stunning colours, but also is incredibly comfortable to handle. A large (2.5") LCD viewfinder means no more squinting at the image you are trying to capture, but is large, sharp and clear. The one disadvantage that comes with this large screen is that there is no manual viewfinder, so in extremely bright sunshine it is nearly impossible to view the image on the LCD screen, so it's a case of 'point, guess and shoot, and hope for the best'! The camera itself features approx 23 scene settings, including the usual potrait/self potrait/landscape/landscape and potrait/night etc etc...
