Olympus MJU 770 SW

Advantages: water-proof, drop-proof, shock-proof and takes great pictures
Disadvantages: lens in top left corner so wouldn't suit those with huge hands

...I bought this about 8 weeks ago from clickto.co.uk for just over £225 including delivery, and I haven't stopped smiling since it arrived The olympus MJU 770 SW is a fabulous camera in every way, it's small, light, waterproof, drop proof, and you can stand on it if you so wish as long as you are under 100 kilograms I bought it to travel with and spent many a happy day snorkelling in hurghada recently, it takes simply stunning underwater shots and I can not recommend it highly enough the batter life is very reasonable, shot time is quick, display bright and clear in fact the only negative point would only affect those with big hands, sometimes your finger may obscure the lens as it's in the top left corner so you need to be aware of finger placement but apart from that it's a fantastic camera and I can't see me changing mine...

A winner from Olympus

So seeing the Olympus 1030SW I was 1st drawn to its waterproof quality etc. I did read a review elsewhere that had example photos with it and the opinion was that image quality had been sacrificed for the robust build. Anyway I ordered one because at the end of the day it's better to have a camera that will work after a soaking than a better image-maker that does not. When it arrived I immediately fell in love with it. It has a weight that is just right (approx 200g with battery and card) and a size that is a lot more convenient than my Leica or Olympus E-510, just a bit bigger than a mobile phone. Also when using camera the lens does not stick out even when using the zoom, You can start producing pics...

Quality and Durability

Advantages: Range of colours; durable; SD card compatibility
Disadvantages: tiny integrated memory; lense in the top left so bigger hands might compromise pictures

...I first saw this product in the advert with the cute kid, trying his hardest to destroy the camera, even using the camera as a dog toy! I thought this is perfect for me as I do a lot of hiking and canoeing and I have a graveyard of digital cameras that have broken on my trips! Ok, to the actual product now, being a student with no fixed income, I initially thought the cost was a little on the highside. Then as in the past when you get a gadget that is meant to be "durable" the quality of what is supposed to do is compromised. However with the Olympus, this compromise does not occur, durablity and quality are assured and this justifies the cost. For you people who love your bright colours this camera comes in a wide range of colours, from yellow to blue or pink. There are a few disadvantages, firstly the integrated memory is tiny...

ISO sensitivity expresses the speed of photographic negative material, it is the ISO equivalent that is given since digital cameras do not use films but image sensors. In fact ISO denotes the sensitivity of the image sensor to the amount of light it is exposed to. Which gives a fair idea of the quality of pictures at low light. It affects the shutter speed/aperture combination that can be use to get the right exposer. It is quite possible that that digital camera light meter gives you a warning signal that the light is not good enough for correct exposer of the scene, you will more often than not grope...

A poor offering from Olympus

Advantages: Takes AAA batteries and....er.....er...hmmmm.... takes AAA batteries
Disadvantages: Awful screen, not user friendly, feels cheap and nasty, made out of inferior materials etc. etc.

Wacom Intuos3 A4 USB Special Edition

Advantages: Improve accuracy with pen stylus, large mapping area/work space
Disadvantages: Mouse not as robust as could be

...After using an optical mouse for many years, I felt I needed a new tool to use with my design work which would give me greater accuracy and control over my work. So, after begging the boss for a 'new toy', we got the Wacom Intuos3 A4 tablet at work. It was very easy to install. It simply plugged into a USB socket on my iMac and once the installation disc had run, it was ready to go. Even though Macs come with drivers for most printers and other external accessories, I still ran the instal disc as it adds a new preference panel in the System Preference section. From here you can change the specifications for all the buttons on the tablet itself as well as on the mouse and stylus pen, along with the standard double-click speed, etc. The tablet has a work area of approximately 297 mm W x 210 mm H (A4) and has a 1:1 mapping ratio...

It even comes presented in a little cute navy envelope and both the cloth and the envelope have the 'PRADA' name on them. It includes a leather case with PRADA embossed. The case doesn't cover all of the phone, it stops just under the speaker and the branding 'Prada' on the phone can be seen. I suppose this is to make sure the speaker can be heard loud and clear when the phone is ringing. Although I don't really think they thought it through too much...
