A very disappointing product from Olympus

Advantages: very neat, easy to connect to a PC, runs for ages on a single AAA battery
Disadvantages: feels and looks cheap/nasty, fiddly controls, sound quality not the best

...prices. The second thing that struck me about WS-331M was: not only did it look cheap 'n' nasty, it felt so as well. The case is made of shiny black plastic of the type prone to easy scratching. And because Olympus was too mean to supply a protective case, in a rucksack or a handbag scratches will appear after no time. Also - the control buttons are very small and fiddly, which may cause problems for people with short nails and fat fingers (many blokes). So I would say that WS-331M is a 'she' rather than a 'he'. To support this 'her' measurements amount to a very neat 94.8mm long by 38.6 mm wide by 11mm thick, without protrusions. Pity they don't make one in pink. They should. Attention All University Students

Advantages: It's the best purchase i have made thus far
Disadvantages: can be a little expensive if you do not shop around properly

And this GEM has not let me down. My girlfriend (who is also a law student) and my friends from university have all sold their dictaphones to purchase the ws-331m. I thought i'd write this review to save you the enormous headache of researching what dictaphone to buy. I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed with this product. For the case and player i paid about $190 US (delivery included to Australia). Look out for sales on ebay, where you can find it even cheaper than this. A poor offering from Olympus

Advantages: Takes AAA batteries and....er.....er...hmmmm.... takes AAA batteries

Olympus E-30. Still not up there with the big boys?

...The E-30 is Olympus's own stepping-stone between the so-called "prosumer" models (what an awful word) and the E-3 professional SLR, being loosely comparable with the likes of the Canon EOS 50D, the Nikon D90 and the Sony Alpha A-350. It shares a lot of the E-3's features and has even overtaken the E-3 in terms of resolution, offering 12mp compared with the E-3's 10. Unfortunately - or fortunately, depending on your opinion - some of its features are things that serious photographers don't really want on their cameras and definitely push the E-30 towards the hobby photographers rather than the professionals.
