Just another memory card...
Review of Olympus MXD-256P XD CARD XD 256 256 MB by
Dj_Ang
Advantages: Good write / read speeds
Disadvantages: Price, Low capacity
...The Olympus XD picture card is good in many ways, yet it is in the end just another memory card.
It has high read and write speeds, and supports the panoramic function in Olympus cameras (not that I regularly use that function)!
The capacity of the card could cause problems when used in a camera that takes high resolution photos, although I have never really found this too much of an issue. If I was going on holiday for any great period of time I would buy a memory card of a higher capacity (XD cards are made in up to 1GB). Another downside is that as XD cards are newer than many other card types, they are quite expensive - although their price is dropping quite quickly, and good deals can be found on the internet. Another problem with them being relatively new is that they are not supported by that many card readers, although...

User friendly Olympus Camedia C 725 Ultra Zoom
Review of Olympus CAMEDIA C 725 Ultra Zoom by
simez77
Advantages: Easy to use & very light
Disadvantages: Poor auto focus & Very heavy battery consumption
...I found the Olympus Camedia C 725 a very easy camera to use, also I liked the small compact memory cards ( M-XD256P XD CARD) which are easily installed into the camera just by pushing into the memory card slot.
I did notice that the auto focus mode was very poor and that you had to take 3 or 4 shots of a subject to get a clear crisp image, although having a large memory card did compensate for this problem.
I also found that the camera was unbelievably heavy on battery consumption to the point of having to change the 4AA battteries before filling 2 thirds of the memory card (with view panel turned off), the only option to solve this problem is to have 8 rechargeable
batteries on hand.
The design of the camera is very user friendly although the quality feels cheap, I found the hinges to the panel for the computer cable socket had...

happy memories.
Review of Olympus M-XD 128 P XD 128 128 MB by
jacy
Advantages: economical,user friendly.
Disadvantages: none
...Being quite new to the high-tech world of the digital camera, I have to say I am very pleased with the results i get from using the olympus xd 128mb picture card in my camera. With the large memory of 997 images at 0.3m, it allows me to take many pictures and allows me to learn by my all too frequent mistakes. I find that this size of image is ideal for sharing my happy memories with friends and family by email. My family and I also find the 128mb card ideal for taking short movies, we get a lot of pleasure reliving birthday partys,BBQs,holidays,Christmas, etc. It is a wonderful way to keep up to date with friends and family who live abroad. The 128mb card is ideal for my family and myself,it`s economical and user friendly. I have taken some wonderful photo prints from the picture card.Happy snapping!...

Store your Memories on the XD
Review of Fujifilm XD CARD 16 MB by
tac20
Advantages: Stylish, small size, reliable
Disadvantages: More expensive than other brands, small capacity
...as they stop the card from being damaged or bent. They equally work for keeping dust away from the connections on the card.
When it comes to purchasing an XD card of this size it seems that most places have stopped supplying them to buy since anyone who would need an XD card usually received one of this size free with the camera. However, it appears that ebay currently sells them from starting prices of about 99p, so they are pretty cheap to get hold of.
Another advantage with buying this card is that XD cards can be used in both Fujifilm and Olympus cameras which are both top brands. Therefore most devices that read memory cards are compatible with them. A downside to the XD card though is that more cameras take SD cards (and often these are cheaper).
In all the XD card is reliable and good looking. However, I would advise buying a larger...

Not a flexible card.
Review of Olympus M-XD 2GM M-TYPE 2048 MB by
trevorbrock
Advantages: Fast, accurate, good capacity and Olympus extras
Disadvantages: A little bit fiddlier than SD or CF
...Olympus.
No, an Olympus M-XD card is a memory card designed to store data.
The xd format is smaller and neater than the more common SD card, in fact roughly half the size.
Olympus has marketed it for their cameras, with the plan that it would fit more easily than the larger type of cards.
It can be used in other cameras which take the xd card, and other electrical items as well.
2 What are its features?
It is a 2GB version, and that was the largest available XD card when I bought mine. However, the technology that was used in creating it, can be adapted for larger amounts of memory in the future, and up to 8GB cards are being planned at present.
The special features of this Olympus card relate to their own brands of camera.
It can allow panoramic shots to be taken, stored and then compiled in conjunction with their own software.
It has...

Fujifilm XD Picture Card (128mb)
Review of Fujifilm xD-Picture Card 128MB by
offspringy
Advantages: Fast, Tiney Physical Size, Decent storage for price
Disadvantages: Not as wide spread as SD + Compact Flash
...The Fujifilm XD Picture Card (128mb) is a very small (aprox 1.5cm) Memory card used in most Fujifilm cameras.
It was developed jointly between Fujifilm and Olympus to create the worlds smallest and very fast memory card, which Fuji dropped into their camera's to promote them.
The XD picture cards have had an update in recent months where they got even faster, and can be distinguished from the older models by their blue writing (there are 2 versions of XD card, normal and fast) the older card is black with gold writing.
The card i bought (128mb) holds enough for small cameras (1-3mpx) but anything over that its a struggle to squeeze all your images onto it, i get on average 30-50 images before i have to dump my memory onto a hard drive (at 6mpx).
Price when it was released was around £50 (which unfortunately i paid) you can get 1GB...

Olympus CAMEDIA C460 after 12 months use.
Review of Olympus CAMEDIA C 460ZOOM by
nickward1
Advantages: Excellent Build Quality, Durability, Good Screen and Good Picture Quality
Disadvantages: Small Memory Card As Standard
.... The only downside of this setting is only being able to fit 5 images on the supplied 16mb XD card (this is upgradeable though by buying extra XD cards up too a maximum of 512mb)
The 1.8" LCD view screen is very clear with a good resolution and is more than usable to view you photographs.
The camera is PictBridge enabled for use with supported printers although I have been unable to test that.
The overall design and ease of use is very good and I have had no problems accessing any features.
Disadvantages:
The supplied 16mb memory card is not very big with the following amount of images fitting on the card:
2,288 x 1712 SHQ = 5 images
2,288 x 1712 HQ = 16 images
600 x 1200 SQ1 = 32 images
640 x 480 SQ2 = 65 images
On the highest setting 5 images is not many and so I would recommend buying a larger capacity xd card I personally have a 256mb xd...

This will seem small beer in a few years time
Review of Olympus 1GB xD Picture Card by
dobieg
Advantages: Huge capacity, tiny format
Disadvantages: Olympus own-brand are sold at a premium
...With the relentless increase in digital camera resolution, 'traditional' memory cards find it difficult to keep up with technological progress.
Add to this, the fact is that new formats live or die by the 'take-up' figures of consumers, it's important that you back the 'right' memory format!
It was with this in mind, that Olympus and Fuji got together to produce a joint standard , known as xD-Picture Card.
The primary purpose of an xD memory card is to provide removable storage for digital cameras, but that doesn't mean it's restricted entirely to that task.
Aimed as a direct competitor to existing formats (Compact Flash, Smart Media, MicroDrive, SD, Sony's Memory Stick etc) the xD card was designed to offer high transfer speed access, large capacity, small format, and in the case of Olympus brand; special features only available...

'x'tra with xD
Review of Fujifilm xD-Picture Card 64MB by
andersonfamily
Advantages: Cheaper than certain SD/Memorystick cards of same price.
Disadvantages: Compatibility
...18MB using my photo printer.
Cameras seem to be able to save images in a second onto the card, and 60second AVIs in around 30secs,
///I haven't got a stop watch out for any of these ESTIMATE times///
~Why xD~
xD is used in most Fujifilm camera's, some Olympus ones and some card readers/MP3 players.
xD cards are also one of smallest memory cards, light, square with a round top, slim and rather tough. Fujifilm ones are very 'nice' looking, black, a gold xD logo and a white Fujifilm logo. Still it's not as though you're going to be wearing them as jewellery so you probably don't care.
~Why not xD~
Like Memorystick, XD is a growing format, but less popular. You'll probably have to pay EXTRA to get a card reader that can read xD. This may be inconvient as you might not be able to swap this card with your friends.
However, my HP photo...

Review of Olympus µ[MJU:] 750 by
judepaw

Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...T he Olympus Mju 750 is an all weather compact camera for well exposed images day or night in all conditions. It is available in Silver or Black with a 7.1 mega pixel resolution, plus a 5x optical zoom.
The camera has the following features
7.1 million pixels

Weather proof metal body
Dual Image Stabilisation
Bright Capture Technology
23 Scene modes

The lens is equivalent to ( 36-180mm) A longer zoom means the camera is liable to camera shake, thus blurring the images. This is avoided by dual image stabilisation to prevent this from happening.
Photos are stored on the 17MB internal memory, which only allows just five snaps. So an xd- picture card is a necessity.
The camera weighs 120g and has a tapered curve...
