...Calheta is a small village on the coast about 45 minutes west from Funchal airport by taxi, through lots of tunnels and about 21 miles from Funchal. ...When our coach pulled up outside the back of Hotel Ternopil, I saw a large impersonal hotel, which looked like it had no charm or individuality, a throwback from the Soviet era. My first impressions were not entirely inaccurate, but the hotel is well situated, by Lake Ternopil, and has had a good re-vamp.
