...I just came back from a fabulous five days in New York so I am going to share my tips and experiences on a few of the Big Apple's major sights, the first one being the Statue of Liberty! The Statue of Liberty was actually a gift to the United States from the French, way back in the year 1886. It was given as a gesture of friendship and was to commemorate the centennial of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence. This is why the date July 4th is written on the tablet the Liberty holds in one of her hands. In the other she holds a torch. The statue was the first thing that immigrants saw as they reached the coasts of the United States (back in the late 1800's, early 1900's) and was seen as a beacon of hope/enlightenment and new life for the thousands of people that descended upon those shores. Take liberty`s!!

Advantages: Modern, clean, relaxing and friendly staff.
Disadvantages: can be a bit nosiy (only a little)

...This time when I visited New York I made sure that I got on the ferrry passed the Statue of Liberty so I could get some pictures as the one's I had obtained last time were awful. Feel free at Liberty's

Advantages: It's all inclusive, good music, toilets are fairly clean
Disadvantages: Gets too packed, some of the people can be annoying.

...I've always had a view of clubs that are all inclusive (in other words the drinks are free after you pay admission) and that view is that they're dingy and cummy affairs full of beer boys and old slappers. Satan's Hollow in Manchester supported this. So did the Grafton in Liverpool. Liberty's however is actually different. From the outside it looks quite tidy. It's located over the car park from TFI Friday's in Hagley Road and in a weird way the two of them seem to complment each other. I can describe it, they just do. So when you get into the club you pay £15 unless you're a member (me and Little Miss Evil, my fiancée are) in which case you can usually use the cheaper entry vouchers they send you each month. Depending on what time you get there, you're then either ushered into the lounge (which is kind of like a plush quiet...

Liberty Enlightening the World

Advantages: Boat ride and views
Disadvantages: Cant go into statue iself and long queues going through security checks

...The Statue of Liberty is definately something you have to see if you go to New York or "Liberty Enlightening the World" which it is also known as. Outside the ticket offices there are people dressed up as the statue of liberty were you can get your photo taken however you will have to pay them a donation which aint much. My sis pretended that he didnt get the photo the first time so e had a few pictures (she definately wanted value for money) lol! Once you pay you have to go through security checks before you get onto the boat over to see the statue. Once on the boat the views from the water were fantastic we got some great photos. What surprised me was that the statue was alot smaller than I had initially thought. Once onto the island where the statue is you can get some great photos of the skyline. ...Looking out or 'THINKING IT OVER' by Liberty X? Well the cover has a picture of the band on the front with liberty x and thinking it over written underneath. I purchased my copy from WH Smith and was in the sale for a bargin price of £4.99...woolworths currently have it on offer also for £6.99. Inside of the booklet is mainly a picture of each member on each page and details regarding the tracks and of course thank yous. ...The store is great and everything and well worth a visit in the flesh, but I particularly enjoy the online store. I have found that service in the store can be a little bit snooty, I get eyed by security and it is too full of frantic tourists for my taste. So the online store is right up my cyber-street. Liberty being as posh and expensive as it is, is only my choice for gifts (mainly for Grandma who loves their stuff) around Christmas time. For two years' running I have spent a fortune but not regretted the expense. I spent £35 on one box of chocolates for my chocoholic boyfriend and it was truly worth it - exquisite quality, a good weight, and beautifully packaged.
