ONE COAT ? I THINK NOT.

Disadvantages: compared to traditional gloss paint, fails.

...I want to tell readers about a paint supplied by Homebase because I feel strongly about their description of the paint as a "one coat gloss". The name implies that a person would only need to apply one coat of paint altogether, and what is very misleading is that what they mean is that you only need to apply one coat of gloss, although of course, you need to prime, undercoat and maybe even add knotting compound to areas of wood where knots are leaking. THE POT ITSELF A standard litre pot is available at approx. £11.99. I say approximately as it was bought for me in the U.K. It's a buck standard pot, with instructions on the outside that tell you how to wash your brushes (i.e. with white spirit) and give you generalised instructions. ...Those of you who have read any of my beauty product reviews might remember that many of them cite a make up guru - ie: mother. Well here she is again! The mother does nails as part of her beauty room business, and has used Seche Vite on clients and for personal use for years. She bought it from Sally's hair and beauty supplies but it is widely availabe over the internet - I bought mine from ebay at just under £6 per bottle (plus postage) for a 0.5oz bottle. Basically, the formula penetrates through the nail polish to the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate for a very durable finish. The official blurb is that its guaranteed not to yellow which I have indeed found to be true. The colour that i choose was Broken White, the colour on the tin was a very close likeness to the finished painting. ~*~ Whats it for ~*~ This is an interior or exterior self undercoating gloss paint for wood, doors, window sills and skirting boards for a few examples. ~*~ Container ~*~ The container is the old fashioned round tin with the prise off lid. I prefer the new plastic containers with the screw on lids as these keep an air tight seal when you screw the lid back on. ,Not like the tin lids they seem to buckle when you open them. Some have been good in use, while others have been too runny, needing extra coats and prone to dripping where I did not want them to, so although a little expensive I was happy for her to choose colours from the Crown range. The paint samples available through the Crown website were a great help in making our colour choices, and one of the regular 10% off days at Homebase got me a discount on our selections. Our colour choices came from the Solo Emulsion and Gloss ranges.
