Fan of Radio One? Read this...

Advantages: A non-fiction page turner, very well written
Disadvantages: Time for an update? Will not appeal to all

...'The Nation's Favourite', Simon Garfield's real-life account of the behind the scenes going on at Radio One, was recently passed on to me with recommendations from a good friend. (If interested, you should be able to pick it up for next to nothing on Amazon or Ebay) He, like me, is one of those sad acts that can name every Breakfast Show host at Radio One (R1) since it's launch (but would have no hope of doing the same with, say, US Presidents, which would probably be much more useful in real life...). The story behind this book is that in 1997, Garfield obtained permission from then R1 controller, Matthew Bannister, to spend a year behind the scenes at the station, and have full access to all DJs and staff. Luckily for Garfield, this full access came at a time in Radio One history where there was plenty of subject matter...

Review of Nation's Favourite. The True Adventures Of Radio One, The - Simon Garfield

If only all Stations were like this one

Advantages: Manageable size, comfortable rooms, good service, excellent food and drink, value for money
Disadvantages: Location is about as far from the Strip as you can get , no entertainment

This restaurant was housed in a preserved Pullman railroad carriage and offered fine dining but has sadly now closed, a victim of the recession. One can only hope it reopens when the economic climate in Vegas improves. Entertainment This is old Vegas but sadly there isn't any in-house entertainment to be found in the Main Street Station. It is, however, a short stroll from the Fremont Street Experience, which is always worth watch - a combination of lights and music that is free. Occasionally there are concerts held on Fremont Street - these will be heavily advertised locally however. If you want to catch a major show the best place in downtown for this is the Golden Nugget, but most of the shows are in Strip hotels. Failing that there's usually a lounge act playing...

...Dont let the looks deceive you,this radio is fantastic. The sound quality is outstanding and will fill most rooms with an unbelievable quality of sound. The tuning mechanism is a delight with a geared control knob which allows accurate tuning with the aid of a magic eye tuning indicator. The use of real wood cabinet enhances the look with a bass port at the rear. There is no tone control but this really is not a problem because the sound has excellent bass and treble. A headphone jack and a line output socket on the rear are also useful. There is a line input socket which allows an mp3 player to be played through the radio with ease. This radio is available in a few different colours and types of wood,you should find one to match you colour scheme....

One of the best RPG for Playstation console

Advantages: Good storyline, fun and enjoyable to play, good soundtrack and game system

...Breath of Fire 3 (BOF3) is one of my favorite RPG game for PSone console. And for me is the best of the Breath of Fire series. It has a very good storyline, characters and skills variety, unique mini-games. Though it's not in fully 3D like most PSone games, the graphic is not disappointing, it's colorful, drawn beautifully accompanied with good soundtracks. radio one's live loung in YOUR lounge

Advantages: Some excellent performance, shows the pure raw talents of some of the UKs top artists
Disadvantages: some weaker tracks and some covers that dont work for me

My mornings are often much happier after hearing the Jo Whiley show, partly for her sexy voice (unfortunatly not featured on the CD) and for the amazing live lounge sessions. For those of you that dont listen to radio 1 mid-morning during the week, Jo Whiley often invites artists into the studio for a chat and to perform a few tracks. These are often stripped down accoustic versions of thier most famous songs and an inpromptu cover which can range from the sublimly beautiful to the hilariously funny. Review of Radio 1's Live Lounge Vol.1 - Various Artists

radio ONE!!! the BEST!!!

Advantages: Has special times for different tastes, plenty of features and really good.
Disadvantages: Some people may not like some of the humour or some of the music at the st times.

...Radio 1 is easily the best radio station in my area. There are never any adverts like on the local staions and there is always a decent song on if you have a wide view about different types of music, weather it be rock, dance, indie, r&b, garage, punk etc. There are also the best dj's in the country. My favourite being Chris Moyles who is on 3 - 5 every weekday and 10 - 1 every saturday. Other decent djs are Steve Lamaq, John peel, dave pearce, emma b, sarah hb and many others. They all have their own set which last for 2hrs on average. Overall, i can't really see why we need any other staions because there all crap compared to this. Excellent in everyway!...

Radio killed the, um, no-one!!!

Advantages: Alternative band which truly means it and pays off
Disadvantages: Perhaps more up beat tracks

...I would just like to say, listen to this band before they go commercial. Enjoy for yourself, before radio whores pretend they got to it first. How can you not love a band that calls its second album 'Return to Cookie Mountain', I loved Sesame Street....um, you weren't meant to read that. I heard this band first time in 2006 whilst I was in Australia, the radio station (Triple J) I listened to, completely praised the album. So who are 'Tv on the Radio', they are a five piece New York group, Tunde Adebinmpe (lead vocals), David Andrew Sitek (guitar/ keyboard), Kyp Malone (vocals/ guitar), Jaleel Bunton (drums) and Gerald Smith (bass/ keyboards).
