...I recently bought a guest bed from John Lewis online. Their website is clean, easy to use and navigate, with good, detailed information about their products. It also has pictures of the items from various angles, which was very helpful. The ordering page is secure, and payment was easy to make - however they do not charge your account until the item has been dispatched. This is specified when you order. Immediately after placing my order I received the confirmation email stating that someone will be in touch within the next 7 days to arrange delivery, and that delivery is usually arranged withing the next 14 days. Two days later I had a voice message on my mobile from a gentleman at John Lewis, giving me a suggested date for delivery and a number to call him back to confirm (or change delivery date should I wish). The online shop I use the most...

Advantages: Easy to find books, free delivery (Super Saver Deliveries), can sell your own things 2nd hand
Disadvantages: not a very reliable review/rating system, some Marketplace Sellers are dodgy

...Marketplace orders. Make sure you get what you paid for. Also, if you buy from very "new" sellers that have a 0 or just 1 or 2 ratings, you should beware... as they might not turn out to be reliable - and don't have an online track record to prove it either! All in all, I love Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com despite all the gripes I have with it. No other online store comes close to the huge range of products and books that Amazon stocks. And the reliability of their delivery services is excellent. Update (29/4/2009): Amazon has now changed its Super Saver Delivery service terms. Now you can get Super Saver Delivery (i.e. Free Delivery) if you buy at least £5 worth of qualifying products!...

Disadvantages: Utter contempt for good customer care; unable to fulfil online promises

...item was due for delivery on Tuesday. I explained that I was due overseas on Tuesday! But I said, as this item was important to me and I had no way of returning the other items if I was going away, I would continue with the order as long as they guaranteed me it would arrive on tuesday, no more messing and no more uncertainty. They guaranteed me - her name was Mhairi - that it would arrive Tuesday with no doubt. So, here am I on Tuesday. 7pm!! No iPod again. Waited all day, As a consultant to this retailer I am perhaps even more fuming than the rest of you would be, because I hear what the Board says about its wonderful service. Well, this is abysmal and unforgiveable. I recommend nobody to use this store's online facility....

The biggest internet shop in the UK.

Advantages: reliable, penty of stuff to choose from
Disadvantages: your have to be at home, for stuff which won't fit in the letterbox

...the years, and I think only a couple of times have things not turned up (I?ve had plenty of stuff go missing from other online stores!), and when they did, Amazon just sent out replacements the same day I informed them of the lack of delivery. I once returned an item, on the grounds I didn?t want it, they took it back without question. I only had to pay the postage. So I?d recommend, Amazon.co.uk as a good online supplier....

...The Disney Store is a shop that sells Disney merchandise. There are Disney Stores across the UK and indeed across the world. There are Disney Stores in Disney World and Disney Land. If you have never been in a Disney Store you will be amazed at the different types of products that are usually always in stock. Although I must say I think you either love or hate the Disney Store. My husband doesn't understand the appeal of purchasing a Disney character bear for £20 when you can buy another bear somewhere else for half the price. I think if you have been brought up to watch Disney cartoons then you have an automatic liking of Disney. Advantages: Cheap, Free Postage, Easy Navigation

...I have no problems with this site, the layout for the site is great and the preorder dates are mostly accurate although there are times when it has been pushed further forward but I don't believe they have much control over that. The navigation is very easy and the searching is good, finds things well. One of the things that I really like about Play.com is the free postage and the cheapness of the items, there are many offers to look out for even more so when you are looking to pre-order items, they are usually discounted more than when the product is released which is good. When it comes to the free postage though, if you're buying something like a book then you will end up getting it much cheaper than if you bought it off a diffrent online site that chargers for postage. ...Well over the past few months Ive suddenly been in a fortunate situation where I have had to frequent Selfridges on a regular basis to buy goods. I'll tell you the story first before reviewing the store. A few months ago I completed a survey at a tube station. There was a slight delay before the train came so I didn't mind doing it at all to pass the time! It was about George Bush(!) and was for a national paper. A few weeks later I got an email to say I'd won £1000 at Selfridges! I didnt believe it at first and ignored it (I thought it was spam mail) I then got a phone call to ask if Id got the email. It was only then that it clicked! I didnt realise that there was a prize draw for completing the survey and it was completely out of the blue! The voichers arrived and since then I have been popping into Selfridges from time to time...

Littlewoods - online!

Advantages: Free delivery and returns!
Disadvantages: None That I can think of!

...The littlewoods site can be accessed using the address www.littlewoods-online.co.uk. SImple! When the page comes up, ususally a pop up advertisement appears too. Dont immediately close it, as they sometimes have a super special offer, that you dont see anyhwere else.! At the moment it is advertising the sale on branded products!. To use te site you have to be A) a littlewoods customer and B) registered to use the online facility. If you are not just fill in the relevant forms and hey presto! The first page of the website is full of special offers, Top 10 buys of the week etc. To read more about the offers, you just have to simply click in the relevant spot! Easy peasy! The actual design of the site is ok but the colours are so bright and varied that it tends to clash a bit. But never mind, no-ones perfect!! You log in...
