Many "Ghost Towns" In Ontario

Canada's Ocean Playground

Advantages: Stunning scenery, friendly welcome, so much to see!
Disadvantages: You have no choice but to drive - don't rely on public transport

...The idea of a holiday in Canada was one that had crossed my mind a few times in the past, without me ever getting past the vague planning stage. It always seemed too far away, too expensive, or just too much like hard work... but then back in early 2008, I happened to see a mail from Condor offering cheap flights to destinations all over the world. Normally I wouldn't bother clicking on any of the links, but one line in particular caught my eye: "Fly to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for ?99 per person". And there really were still seats available at that price - not during high season of course, but we'd heard that autumn on the eastern seaboard really is a great time to visit, so this was an offer we couldn't refuse. Three Places To Visit in the GTA!

Advantages: Just niiice:)

...the lemonade is fresh and the view breathtaking. The house itself can be toured, which is something you just have to do: Samuel McLaughlin was an intriguing person, and his house mirrored that perfectly. Also, in this house you have a chance of running into a bit of a mess: Movies are shot there regularly, so eventhough it may be the gardenroom or the diningroom that's not as it is usually, you just might run into Sean Connery or any some such person. Bobcaygeon - and the Kawartha Lakes Area

Advantages: small town based on tourism
Disadvantages: hard to go home after you visit! (how do you think I wound up here!)

...My Grandmother first traveled through Bobcaygeon with her cousins a little more than 45 years ago, fell in love with the area and bought a piece of property where she and my Grandfather built our cottage. At first, it was a vacation home but then, she told me, she just couldn't bear going back to the city anymore and moved up full time. Through my lifetime, I have move around southern Ontario a lot. Every time, however, it seems I wind up back in Bobcaygeon. There seems to be a certain charm about it that draws me in. The people here are wonderful and friendly, and the area is full of breathtaking natural beauty. Bobcaygeon is home to about 3,000 permanent residents and around 12,000 live in the surrounding area. Disadvantages: pervading sense of incompetence, baggage disasters

Thomas Cook Tour. Eastern Canada

Advantages: Guided tour, Spendid views, Great company.
Disadvantages: Occasional extra costs

On this tour were 44 people from different walks of life, and we got on well with all of them. This made a great atmosphere, especially in the hotels. They originally come with UK/Europe maps so these are a brilliant upgrade if you are considering taking your car abroad or hiring a car and driving over there. These are a lot easier than using a standard map when you are visiting another country and make getting around easy. We have just bought one of these as we are planning a trip to the USA and decided one of these would be useful. I have never been abroad so certainly wont know my way around.
