...The Problem Time Computers, in common with other PC suppliers offer a preinstall or Windows Millennium only. You will NOT be supplied a backup disk of Windows Millennium. So What? Without an operating disk you are basically stuffed if anything goes wrong. A virus or a bad installation can cause mayhem to the Windows operating system which often require the operating disk to fix the problem. The only solution then would be to return your computer to Time Computers for a fix. Even adding or removing basic window components will be impossible. You need a backup copy of your Windows millennium operating system. The Solution Time will supply a disk for around £40. Try to persuade the salesperson to include this in the purchase, if not buy it. You will be spending over £1000 on a computer please do not spoil your enjoyment by making... Read review

...Until recently I had stuck with windoes95 as it seemed to offer me a stable platform for my system. It was after visiting a mate that I decided to migrate to the Windows 98 version of the operating system. Windows98 is packed with additional features and fixes several bugs in the previous version. I am currently using the Second Edition. Since migrating I have found my computer is a lot more stable. I don't have the fastest PC in the world but it suites me just fine. Windows 98 runs just fine on my P200 MMX 64Mb system and operates trouble free. It is simple to use by the novice and contains enough features for the more technically minded to have fun with. ...I think that Microsoft should not be allowed to sell their goods at these high prices. They have created a monopoly in the computer market, and if we want a computer we have no choice but to pay- unless we buy an Apple but what's the point. The Windows system is very good, but is costs £1,000 at least to get a compute and half the price must be going to Microsoft. I am sure I am not the only one who feels like this and i just wish that someone else could could up with a decent computer operating system at an affordable price.... Read review

I have mainly used this software in the past to prove that I can carry out a task for course work. For example, formatting the hard drive because I don’t want to have to start from scratch. Using this software to experiment with things that you haven’t done before makes this software great because if something does go wrong then you only lose the virtual PC and not the PC with all of your work on. ...This operating system, to say the least is very unreliable and poor. There is nearly always a constant problem with it, and it does not take much for it to crash at the slightest thing. Really, there was not a great deal of difference between this and windows 95. If i had win 95, I would NOT recommend this as a very worthwhile purchase. However if you have a decent computer with win 3.1 then this may be a worthwhile buy. The best thing to do is look for alternatives to this operating system.... Read review

...I purchased this my first PC from DELL online in April 1998. The Dell Dimension XPS R400 had just been released and this was first purchase online at around £2000. I was able to order slight changes to the base specification without being penalised for having a bespoke PC system rather than a mass prepared one. The order fullfilment was easliy tracked online. I could tell at what stage the PC delivery was, Construction, Testing, Awaiting Dispatch and finally delivery. I upgraded the 3 year service with the first year onsite to 3 years onsite for the measily sum of £75, which would not even subscribe you to a PC magazine for the same period. I had problems with Windows 95 as I was new to the operating system, the telephone support offered was patient, expert without falling between these two stools. Later, I had a problem... Read review

Advantages: Stylelish, small, modern, very fast
Disadvantages: Not very expandable (not really needed though!!)

...For computer beginners the iMac is the ideal machine. Its fast, very simple and very easy to use. Their stlyelish, small and modern and desighned to brighten up the working enviomrent. You can purchase them for around £700 and can use them straight away. iMac's now run the latest operating system from apple, Mac OS X. This system is packed full of features and programmes to make working with the iMac even easier if it wasn't easy enough already. This system is inlcuded with the bundle you buy and with its programmes or applications on it such as Simple text and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 you can start word processing and surfing the web straight away. ...I have decided against installing this on my system or several reasons. Firstly, after talking to various contacts who have intalled the operating system on their PC's, I was told that it was a nightmare to install, with varios problems on installations. Secondly, There are a whole host of compatiblity issues, for example there are alot of supliers out there, for things like Graphics cards, sound cards etc, that have not yet developed drivers that are compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional. My recomendation to you if you want this operating system on your PC is to WAIT, until you are sure that all your various components in your system have the compatible drivers for the Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional operating system. You need to contact your suppliers of your componants to ensure they have a driver... Read review

Advantages: graphics, works most of the time

...I first got the Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P computer around one and a half years ago. At the time the computer was vary good and suitable for our needs, however since then technology has moved on somewhat. EASE OF SETUP I was not the person to set up this computer however the family member who had set it up commented that it was the hardest computer to set up that he had ever encountered. I have recently tried to restore the computer to it's factory setting however was unable to do so as the manual has no information on how to do so. All in all a very difficult computer to restore, however I have reason to believe that the eprson who set it up, who was not very good with computers used the operating system disk to install the operating system, despite it being preloaded, which needless to say makes thngs alot more difficult.
