Optoma HD720X
Advantages: Great picture, little rainbow effect, good looking projector.
Disadvantages: No internal speaker
...This is a really great projector, at a very impressive price (£529 on Play) - the cheapest WXGA I've seen! Many DLP projectors suffer from the "rainbow effect" but with this Optoma there is virtually no rainbow effect at all - this is due to the 4x speed colour wheel, which is faster than you would find in many other projectors. Out of the box, the picture is great. I found the yellows were maybe slightly muted but this can be adjusted by the on-screen menus. The actual projector looks very sleek - the black and silver case looks really classy - and it comes with all the inputs you could want, expect SCART, but don't worry - a SCART adapter comes in the box. Being HD ready, it's also got an HDMI port for your HD-DVD or Blu-ray. The remote is easy to use, and the buttons light up so you can see them in a darkened room. Thankfully...

Can you buy a full HD projector on the cheap?
Advantages: Cheap and bright full HD machine
Disadvantages: Poor colour reproduction
...control allowing proper integration with integrated control systems such as AMX or Crestron as well as a web interface for monitoring over a network. There is also a USB port so the projector remote can be used to control your computer for powerpoint presentations for example.
Picture quality
The first thing you notice is the resulution that the full HD DLP chip brings to the EP1080. Even system graphics like the Optoma logo and the input information are crisp and clear. Plug in a laptop into the machine and you can put the resolution right up to 1080p and see full HD goodness from the internet such as BBC iplayer or Youtube HD. To get the best out of this machine you really need to connect a full HD source such as a Blue Ray player into the HDMI port and here you really enjoy the benefits of full high definition projection...

Portable home cinema packs a punch
Advantages: Great picture and sound. Portable. Comes with carry case. Reasonable price. Vertical keystone
Disadvantages: Lacks useful connection leads, small amount of 'arcing'. No Horizontal keystone.
...to the shop, as the power cable didn't connect securely to the unit, causing it to spark. The shop replaced the unit for me and I haven't had any problems since.
***Lamps***
Manufacturer suggests it has 2,000 hours of lamp life.
Replacement lamps cost about £99 (price found at projectorpoint.co.uk) which isn't bad compared to many other projector lamps that exceed £200 in price.
***Compatibility***
Additional leads and connections (NOT SUPPLIED) let you hook up a PC, set-top box or games console. Optoma provides a VGA to RGB Scart adaptor in the box, this lets you hook up your PC, but doesn't include a sound cable. However, the unit does have a separate audio out that allows you to connect an external sound system.
Computer Compatibility
SXGA, XGA, SVGA, 15 Pin D-Sub (VGA type)
Video Comapatibility

Epson EMP X5
Advantages: Good price
Disadvantages: Low resolution
...This is projector is affordable but still has some positive features. The resolution of 1024 x 768 allows clear projection with much detail. However if you are interested in High definition or multimedia i would not recommend this. However for business or education this is perfect. The 2200 ANSI Lumens allows the pictures to be very bright in well lit conditions. It was very easy to set this up and epson provided all the cables in needed. This epson website is also very helpful for driver and software updates. Even though this is not a DLP projector i think this projector meets its demands nicely and is a good price. Other products to consider would be the Optoma range since they also are very good....

Mini LED Projector with USB connectivity!
Advantages: LED bulb, quick on quick off, USB connectivity
Disadvantages: Wish it was offered in multiple colors
...I?ve owned the Optoma HD20 for a while now, and I must say it?s a great projector, but I?ve always wanted something portable, something that was small yet powerful, and that?s when I found the BenQ GP1. Of course, you can?t compare the performance between the GP1 and the HD20, but I got to say, for the price you pay for the GP1 and the size and weight of it, it really is an amazing mini projector.
Although only with 100 lumens, it is 100 lumens of LED (RGB not white) lamination, and I must say if you compare it with standard LCD or DLP 100 lumens, the LED?s 100 lumens are quite a few multiples higher. And the device is absolutely TINY! It weighs only 1.4 lbs (0.6 kg)! Another great thing is that the GP1, being LED, is able to have instant on/off capabilities, which saves a lot of time. And you can forget about changing bulbs, as LED...
