Visit the Orchid Garden!

... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Orchid Garden Review * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Recently I visited Tenerife for almost two weeks and this is another review of somewhere I visited. Another Tenerife review I have written is on Loro Parque and is quite a good review in my opinion! Anyway today I am going to review the Orchid Gardens. While in Tenerife recently I visited the Orchid Gardens in Puerto de la Cruz. The garden was just up the road from the hotel I stayed in which is the Casablanca and probably took about 3 minutes to walk to from there! The orchid garden is a really interesting place to visit but it seemed to be very quiet ?although apparently it is busier in the winter! This is a shame as the gardens are a really nice place just to be in and relax and should be enjoyed by more people and I wish that more...

Phalaenopsis - Addictive orchids!

Advantages: Beautiful flowers, still grow if you neglect them!
Disadvantages: Expensive compared to other house plants

...I have always liked orchid flowers. but have never had much success with house plants so never really considered growing them. I tend to neglect plants so eventually they dry out and die! However in a moment of weakness in a garden centre, I spotted a rather sad looking phalaenopsis (not that I knew that was what it was at the time!) With beautiful pale pink petals and a deep pink centre. It was reduced as it had been rather bashed and didn't look very healthy! Always a sucker for a charity case, I bought it and brought it home. All the instructions on the pot were in german, so a little while on google was required for some simple care instructions! This was over 12months ago and the orchid has been in flower ever since - certainly a lot cheaper than a bunch of flowers! I have acquired another 6 orchids since then, and am rapidly...

They are definately a plant to be proud of. They flower profusely, and they stay in flower for a very long time; unlike many other plants, that have lovely but, somewhat, transient flowers. The closest thing to paradise

...KL is a great city and there's a lot of different things to do but sometimes you can get a bit overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle and feel the need to escape. That might seem like a tall order in such a full-on high-octane city but my tip for regaining your sanity is the Orchid Garden in KL Lake Gardens. KL Lake Gardens (or Taman Tasik Perdana) lie up a hill looking out over the city. There may well be a bus service up there but the two times I've been I have taken taxis. And even that can be a problem - getting up there is relatively easy but getting back can be a struggle. The gardens aren't on the standard KL taxi driver's prowling route so you can struggle to find a cab when you are ready to head back to town and may have to wait for someone else to come up and grab their driver for the return journey. ...If you only can spare time to seek out one plant in New Zealand, it would have to be the most famous of all its plants - the silver fern. If, on the other hand, you are a nature lover and you find yourself with a free afternoon to spend in Wellington (New Zealand's capital city), then I strongly recommend the Botanic Garden for its plants, scenic views and pleasant strolls. For everyone else, I'd still recommend it, but only after you have taken your fill of the Te Papa museum (which is my number one "must-see" recommendation for Wellington). The gardens span some 25 hectares and if you are anything like me, they will fill as much time as you have to spare and then some. People with bad knees or small children be warned though - it's pretty steep and you may struggle a bit! There are some mobility scooters available though. I came here...
