Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Advantages: really long so it will be hard to run outta stuff to do

.... Without wanting to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the book i'll give a breif idea of teh plot. The Order of the Pheonix is a group of wizards set up by Dumbledore to fight against Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Getting into as much trouble and adventure as possible Harry and friends get involved all the way. There are lots of new and different characters- all with different purposes. The new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher is a woman- against whom the children all need a defence. There is also the introduction of Luna Lovegood, a student in Ginnny's year. There are plenty of twists and turns and you are always left guessing as to what could happen next. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Advantages: Highly entertaining
Disadvantages: Why can't it be a four hour film???

...Wow - what can I say. I didn't think they could condense this book down cause so much happens but they have managed to do it without losing the best bits! Although I would say I could have watched this for another three hours and still wouldn't have got bored! This story needs no explaining. But if you haven't read the book and only seen the films then you will not be dissapointed. Harry is once again an outcast at school, as only very few people believe him in that Voldemort is back! The Ministry is telling everyone that he isn't and so everyone believes it. Hogwart's is also being taken over by the Ministry and sees all teaching of spells banned. This is where we see the introduction of Dumbledore's Army. The adults in Harry's world have meanwhile have regrouped hte Order of the Phoenix and so Harry isn't completely on his own...

Dick Dangerous and the Order Of The Phoenix

Advantages: Whole lotta fun
Disadvantages: Too darned easy to guess who dies

...) and put the pedal to the metal all the way to popular bookstore Waterstones to score a copy of Harry's latest adventure Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix. Once out of the bookstore I began to notice that virtually every other person I saw was also carrying a copy of this not inconsiderable tome: it's about the size of a small brick. There really is no underestimating this phenomenon. I'd read the other books in the series once when I'd been locked in the dungeons of a Gay German neo-Nazi called Heidrich Meershwanschenwurst (Now there's a story...), but having travelled 500 ks across Europe tied to a mini-scooter being chased by six demented members of an avant-techno "collective" intent on whipping my buttocks raw, the whole hype thing was lost on me. I figured I'd enjoy this one better seeing as I wasn't handcuffed to a seven foot bass...

Disadvantages: Nothing really, though in hardback this book is very heavy!

Three years ago when the last installment of this series, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, was published i was one of the many people who believed it was a children's book that i would never enjoy.
