...I have been using a previous Oregon Scientific projection clock for the past couple of years, and I have been very pleased with it. I decided to get this model because one of the main points is that the projection is strong enough to be seen in daylight. Even on a really bright day, it is still possible to see the time on the ceiling or wall, unlike previous models. As with previous models, it has the radio controlled time feature, meaning that it is always up to date, and requires no manual changes. Although it is possible to turn the radio signal receiver off, and do it manually. This may have to be done if you are using it in an area of weak or no signal. ...So Hallowe'en night, the obligatory somewhat pathetic partying has ended it's about 1o'clock in the morning so decide to put this on and live the Hallowe'en atmosphere. THE STORY It's 1973 and the film starts with a filmed walk through of the crime scene of the Chainsaw Massacre and before it can really get started we are thrown towards the past and 5 young people coming back from partying in Mexico to go see a Lynrd Skynrd concert somewhere in Texas, when suddenly they meet a young female hitch hiker who keeps crying and is more than abit erratic. They pick her up and start driving in the direction she came from which made little sense to me but hey. She starts screaming your going the wrong way (why did they pick her up if they weren't going to go her way? Why?). She then gets over excited pulls a gun from the heer groin...

Advantages: the guy playing the sheriff
Disadvantages: too many plot holes

...! the fact that leatherface doesn't kill the final girl right away is also a give away that she's going to live. the 2nd boy on the meat-hook could have put his feet on top of the piano and pushed himself off the hook. we weren't shown the piano earlier, mistake/goof? You can't tell if Jedadiah is trying to help her and Morgan or suckering them into another trap (which it seems like to me). Them running into an abandoned house like place where he carves an X in the door (a reference to Freddy or Jason?) and she hides him in a closet and hides in a crawl space herself. Oh, and how can a chainsaw keep running when it's dropped (I'd have assume the engine would stop right away). leatherface kills the boy after hanging him from a chandelier (again, you see nothing you just think you do) and of course it's the final chase of the last living girl...

Disadvantages: Not scary, gory for the sake of it, dull characters.

...Tim Burton has a lot to answer for. Even since his poor, but finanically successful "re-imagining" of Planet Of The Apes, it seems Hollywood is falling over itself to produce as many "new" films using the names of classic ones, but little else. Few of these films have much in common with the original films, aside from an ability to trade off of an already established name. Unfortunately, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is little different. I suppose I should point out that I'm not particularly a fan of the original film, so this is a hardly going to be a "they changed all these things and ruined it" type rant. The overwhealming feeling I felt through the film was one of sheer boredom. There was absolutely nothing within the film that I hadn't seen elsewhere. The film plays as some mutated hybrid of the original Massacre film...

...The Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows a group of teenagers taking a road trip through Texas in the 70's. However, when they come across a young woman walking along a deserted road and pick her up, they soon realise something is wrong with her. Not long after, she shoots herself, leaving the group scared and confused to say the least, but little do they realise, their ordeal has only just begun. Coming across an isolated house seeking help, the group think they have found help, but they have actually just walked into a massacre scene. One by one, the youths suffer horrendous deaths in this gruesome remake of the classic horror movie that was origionally banned from cinema in the 70s. Advantages: genuinly scary
Disadvantages: to believable

...??? The teens continue along their way before the girl begins to mutter 'You're going the wrong', so of course she pulls a gun out and proceeds to blow her head off (credit to the effects team for a great shot) . Of course they now split up and meet their respective grisly fates. After the murders, or for a better word, slaughters, it comes down to a shoot-out between Erin (Biel) and Leatherface. Now it might be me, but how can a large bulky man with a chainsaw, keep pace with a fit young girl as they become involved in a chase ? Somehow he does and eventually corners her in the meat factory just behind the Hewitt residence. Of course Leatherface not being the most inteligent, fails to track her down in a locker and Erin eventually cuts Leaterface's arm off with a meat cleaver and runs for all shes worth. As is accustomed with modern horror...

...The Texas chainsaw massacre is a hugely underrated film; it has a style and charisma that many horror films fall short of. The film is a very standard horror film in that it begins with a horrific visual, continues to do all the usual in depth characterisations and then goes on to do as the title implies. The film isn’t a high blown Hollywood blockbuster; it has more of an affinity with the more independent style of direction. Chainsaw massacre doesn’t have any big stars in it, and was directed by a relative unknown, but what these people managed to create will go down in infamy. Texas chainsaw massacre is a cult film; people are drawn in to viewing it either because of its rather graphic title, or in recognition to its history. The film is thoroughly unapproachable, to get into the story is one of its many challenges...

...My Experience? I've had the Oregon Scientific digital camera for around 2 years now, and overall I have been disappointed. However I have a little relief in the fact that I paid very little for it through a TV bidding channel, Bid-up TV, I recall that it was about £100 along with an array of free image editing and gallery software. Ever since I received the camera it has gone down hill consistently. I know others have had good experiences with this camera, so it would appear to be on an individual basis, but do take heed. Also as other owners have reported the camera will often freeze on random occasions. To resolve, remove the batteries and replace them, this usually makes the camera work again. Advantages: Makes you jump
Disadvantages: Obvious points i.e wooded areas

...(bad mistake). This poor girl looks like she just saw a weird guy with a chainsaw killing people. She’s hurt and looks drained, and “just wants to go home” then she becomes hysterical and kills herself. Now all the fun starts. So they go to this very small town which consists of like no more then 10 weird people, to look for a sheriff to report the suicide to, slowly people start to go missing, and a man with a chainsaw starts running after people. The twisted thing is all the town are in on this game, theirs no one to help them, its all one big trap, and even the sheriff is scary. Slowly people start dieing, in different ways, one guy gets hit by a sledge hammer, another will get cut up, another will be put on a sling shot and shot into space….or not. The movie does have an eerie feeling to it all the way...
