An Organic Experience
Advantages: Fairtrade, Organic
Disadvantages: Horrible After-taste, Leaves You Feeling Thirsty
...When I wake up in the morning I can't fully function until I have had at least a couple of cups of tea inside me, so imagine my excitement therefore when this week's Product Of The Week was announced to be Co-op Fairtrade Organic Tea Bags. Throughout the day I will intake countless mugs of tea, and after last week's disaster of a product, it was great to see that this week would see me writing about something I would potentially enjoy very much. This weeks purchase would involve a trip down to the local Co-Op, so off I went on my way to pick up the 80 teabags which I swiftly found labelled at a price of £1.95. I thought this was rather expensive for 80 teabags, however given that the product is both Organic and Fairtrade, I was more than happy to part with my money for the box of teabags.
The fact that these particular tea bags are...

A Taste of Eden ~ Organic Freshly Cold Pressed
Advantages: Mild, rich carrot-y taste, no artificial additives, cold pressed, rich in pro Vitamin A
Disadvantages: Refrigerate after opening, comes in glass bottle.
...If you like carrots and want to have a rich source of pro-Vitamin A (beta-carotene), I have just the answer to your longing.
. . . . ♥ "Eden Organic Carrot Juice" ♥
The 750 ml bottle is clear glass, so you can see the bright orange carrot juice within. Occasionally you will find a thin layer of sediment and/or a red line along the top of the fluid level (usually when it is stored for a while). Neither of these is harmful, and will mix back in when you shake the bottle. Made from 99% organic carrots and 1% lemon juice, 100ml contains 28 KCals (119 KJ) and 115% RDA of vitamin A. It is pasteurised rather than having added preservatives, so some of the live enzymes may have been destroyed, but it is still rich in anti-oxidants, and it has not been chemically processed.

* The vacuum seal gives a satisfying POP...

The Organic Gardener
Advantages: Organic gardening is to work in tune with nature
Disadvantages: none at all
...I love my garden. Absolutely love it. I can sit in my garden, with ceramic wind chimes making soft music behind, me, with the sun on my face, and the butterflies dancing about me, and feel the most amazing sense of contentment. It is a place I have created from the ground up: from a bare patch of wild grass I envisaged an oasis of clam and tranquillity, and four years of hard work later, it is still a canvas in the middle of completion, and somehow I feel it will always be that way - the never ending joy of growing something new, finding some bird-brought seedling, watching frogs poke their noses out from newly cut logs.
There is a season to everything and a gentle flow from one to the next in an organic garden, where every action is determined not by the books that say it should be so, but by the gardener, who learns the language...

Yummy organic cereal
Advantages: Organic, tastes good
Disadvantages: Price
...I'm quite fussy about the cereal that I eat and have never really gone for the usual cornflakes etc. I recently came across this Whole Earth Red Fruit Organic Crunch in my local Tesco and the description of the cereal seemed to tick all my boxes so I gave it a try.
WHO ARE WHOLE EARTH?
Whole Earth was started by Craig and Gregory Sams in 1967, when they opened a restaurant in London. They have since expanded rapidly and promote the use of organic and natural foods. They make a range of cereals, drinks, spreads and everyday items like baked beans and ketchup. They are also a carbon neutral company.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY:
The cereal seems to vary in price between £1.60 and £2 in supermarkets. The other day I paid £1.61 in Asda but in my normal Tesco shop it is over £1.90. The cereal is quite specialised and therefore...

For a truly organic experience..
Advantages: Fresh, organic and mostly locally grown, seasonal produce
Disadvantages: No flexibility on contents, unwanted wildlife!
...So, what's an Organic box scheme?
Quite simply a box scheme allows you to set up a regular weekly order with an organic fruit, vegetable, dairy etc supplier. After which, once a week on a designated day a box of lovely organic and very fresh produce will be delivered to your home. So there you have it in (an organic, of course) nutshell.
The Company I'll be reviewing is called River Nene, I first found out about them when a leaflet dropped through my door. I have been a loyal customer for about six months now and have been happy with the service so far.
~~~~~Who are River Nene..?~~~~~
River Nene has been in business since 2000 and is nestled in the Nene Valley, Sutton, Peterborough. Although River Nene do grow produce on their own farm they also collaborate with other local farmers to bring their customers a wider...
Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight
Advantages: A refreshing take of indie music
Disadvantages: The odd 'filler' track
...During my time I've reviewed the odd music artist that many of you would never have heard of.....Hell is for Heroes, Wilt, Minus the Bear, Augustana, My Vitriol, Art Brut, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Glitterati, Frank Turner.....well here's another one to add to that list for you to expand your musical horizons - Frightened Rabbit. They're a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, Scotland, which was the brain child of Scott Hutchison in 2003. Today he's also joined on stage by his brother Grant Hutchison (drums, vocals), Andy Monaghan (keyboards, guitar), and Billy Kennedy (guitar, keyboards)
Their debut album, "Sing The Greys" was released in 2006 and their second helping "The Midnight Organ Fight" was released in April 2008 and has received critical acclaim from many outlets - a host of reviewers; Q, NME, Drowned in Sound; all rating...
Ooohh Organic
Advantages: pure baby food with no aditives
Disadvantages: none
...When boots discontinued their own range of baby foods I was dismayed. My son loved them especially the chicken and pineapple jar and I tried to find an alternative for him but it was no use no other brands carried this flavour.
I usually feed my son Jamie who is 11 months on veggies and meals that I prepare for him from scratch but I keep a few jars handy just in case I'm exhausted or simply too plain lazy. They are also handy to carry with you if you are going visiting or away for the day.
I used to think that organic baby food was too expensive for my budget but when boots introduced their own range it was very reasonable at 69p per jar for the 7 month range just 2p per jar dearer than their international range which I buy for Jamie sometimes too. The choice was very good and has a great range of deserts too at the same price...
Go Organic
Advantages: Much healthier, good value for money
Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...Some of you might have read my recent opinion on Sainsbury's Soya Milk, which, as my opinion suggested, I am certainly not a fan off.
However Sainsbury's Organic Milk and generally all other brands of Organic milk, is certainly a different kettle of fish.
Organic foods in general are made from products that have not been exposed to harmful pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, irradiation and genetically modified organisms.
This application to organic milk is no different. There is no GM in organic cattle feed, there has not been a case of BSE found in an organic born and raised dairy cow, antibiotics are only used if the cow is ill, no artificial insecticides and fungicides are used in the pastures where the organic cows graze, no solvents are used to produced organic cattle feed and no urea is used in cattle feed.
All this...
Organically Yours
Advantages: Natural, Healthy, Strong
Disadvantages: Pricey compared to other normal teas
...Tea is literally “Not my Cup Of Tea” until I had a taste of Clipper’s Organic Assam Tea.
Personally I am a coffee man and a Nescafe one at that. The tea drinkers in my family are my wife and my mother and it was because of the former that I had the opportunity of experiencing this particular brand of tea.
On the odd occasion that I have had tea previously it has always been Lipton’s be it here or on my travels in other parts of the world. I cannot say that I love tea but what I can say is that I am tolerant to it and sometimes enjoy the cooling effect, which is unlike coffee that instead heats you up.
So back to the part where I first had a taste of Clipper’s Organic Assam Tea. I had been noticing that my wife had suddenly gone into this organic thing and it was mentioned a couple of times during...
Organic fruit wobblers
Advantages: No additives etc
Disadvantages: not liked anymore
...Always on the lookout for my youngest daughter to try something new I came across mango flavoured fruit wobblers.
These are jellies suitable for babies 12 months+ and can be bought in supermarkets in packs of 4 for about 1.69.
On the cardboard packaging there is a no junk promise, they have no colourings and no added sugar.
I do wonder though if we have to have to have special jellies after all there are sugar free and made with real fruit jellies out there.
Ingredients
Organic grape juice 81%
Organic mango puree 13%
Water 4%
Gelling agent (organic locust bean gum) 1%
Gelling agent (agar) less than 1%
Ascorbic acid trace...
