Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel

Advantages: Breakfast was ok
Disadvantages: not close to the airport, small rooms, smelled funny, shower doors broken

...I recently had to stay over night at Olso airport since our plane got in late at night and there were no flights to my final destination until the morning. We knew this in advance and had pre-booked a room via a discount hotel website. We chose the Norlandia hotel since it was called ?Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel? and therefore thought it was a good choice since it was close to the airport. This was where my first gripe with the hotel came from.. once we had arrived we had to take a shuttle bus to get to the hotel, this cost us 60kr each one way (around £6) The airport is infact not so close to the hotel and took a 10 minute bus ride! In the morning we had to take the bus again, so all in all we spent about £24 getting to and from this ?Airport Hotel?. Once we got to the hotel, checking in was easy. All we had to do was hand them out...

Affordable Oslo

Advantages: Free breakfast, Free wifi, Affordable
Disadvantages: Fire alarm, No tea making fac. in rooms

...This year my boyfriend and I decided to take a break in December to make a change. We decided that, rather than chase the winter sun, we'd instead embrace the cold and have a Christmassy holiday. Having recently been to Iceland, we decided to go for a similar country and booked up our hotel in Oslo in Norway. It was my boyfriend rather than myself who physically did the booking, but he noted that it was far cheaper to book through a website like last minute or Expedia than it was to book with Best Western direct - so take this into account if you're planning on visiting here. We stayed here for five nights and the weekend nights were given to us at a discounted rate, which was nice. Overall it worked out cheaper than staying in most hotels in other capital cities (for example London) which we were quite impressed with seeing as...

Six star service from a 4 star hotel.

Advantages: Close to all the sites and sounds of Venice.
Disadvantages: It is a bit on the expensive side.

...Hotel Al Ponte Antico. Venice. The hotel Al Ponte Antico is a four star hotel in the centre of Venice. It is situated on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge and has spectacular views of the bridge from the balcony. The hotel is part of a 15th century palace which has been lovingly restored by its current owner to its former glory. Each room is individually decorated in Louis XV period style elegance to a very high standard. There are only 9 rooms in the hotel which means that service is very personal and informal. The rooms contain the usual facilities such as minibar, Wi-Fi access, although we did not use it on this occasion, direct dial telephone, flat screen television and a superb bathroom with bidet and a multipoint shower. The bed was very comfortable. On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by Oliver who made us most...

Kipping down near Oslo airport

Advantages: Next to Gardermoen airport, good service
Disadvantages: The first plane in the morning will wake you up

...When we booked our holiday to a cabin Norway I made a fundamental error and miscalculated the time it would take to get from Oslo Gardemeon airport to the fjord area of Norway. With a distance of 293km (182 miles) I thought that we could easily cover the distance in under 3 hours. The route given to me by Multimap three days before we departed gave me a shock as it quoted over 5 hours. As we were landing at 6.30pm I did a quick mental calculation and realised I could be knocking on the cabin owners door the wrong side of midnight, that is if I ever found it in the dark! The solution was a one night stay in a hotel near to the airport. Expedia came up with the goods on this hotel with a cost of £92.37 (1,150 NOK, that is Norwegian Krone) for the one night stay. This wooden clad chalet style hotel was not only the cheapest it was also very...

Albufeira (Portugal) 4 Star Self Catering Hotel

Advantages: Near all amenities. Good central Location.
Disadvantages: You cannot book the sun (pity)

...it. On the north side are a few shops, houses and buildings. On the south (beach) side are many of the hotels, shops, and restaurants. Brisa Sol Hotel: This is a 4 star self catering Hotel. There are about 6 levels with rooms on most levels and 2 medium sized lifts. The hotel is within a 15 min walk to either the old town or the new town. The rough cost in the medium season will be about £400 for 7 days and you could experience the following:- Reception: This is open 24 hours a day with English speaking staff. A bowl of nice boiled sweets is always on top! They sell tickets to hotel functions, act as a bureau de change and also sell tickets to assorted trips. Check their prices to the tour operators, as the hotel is usually cheaper. Rooms: All rooms are on-suite with a toilet and bath/shower. All have settee's and a TV...

Everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel

Advantages: Location, facilities, standards
Disadvantages: Not really suitable for families

...Excellent location right on the beach, good facilities and used for business conferences too. Food is good although can be repetitive, I would suggest bed and breakfast, they offer an excellent choice for breakfast. Very relaxed friendly service, although I do feel at times this was slow, one member of staff didnt speak very good English I wouldnt have minded but they were not local either, think they need to look at this in a 4 star hotel. The rooms are of a good standard and very clean, towels etc changed daily. There is internet access from your room if you want it or you can use the hotels payable pcs for interenet. I would say for standards and location and also luxury I would rate this a 4 star plus. The hotel is located amongst 5 star hotels with a number of restaurants, bars and tourist shops nearby, there is also a bus stop...

Diamond review  OSCILLATE WILDLY IN OSLO!

Advantages: Beautiful, friendly and welcoming
Disadvantages: Expensive and cold.

...the main drag of Karl Johan's gate visit this stone church which was first built in 1697. See the large ceiling murals, see the stained glass windows by Emanuel Vigeland, and see the original stone pulpit. Oslo being famed for having an outdoor existence means you can enjoy the cathedral both inside and out; our enjoyment was further amplified by sitting opposite the cathedral to stare at its beauty and buying cinnamon bagels to entice the entire bird population onto the small green area. SOUVENIR HUNTING GUIDELINES: 1.... Try not to overdo it 2.... Take a credit card if serious about souvenir hunting 3.... See where the locals shop, follow them if necessary but try not to be too scary 4.... If you stop enjoying yourself, it's time to do something different If you have the time or demanding relatives wanting a 'little piece...

The Star Hotel - An absolute Gem!

Advantages: Food - Staff - Location - Everything
Disadvantages: NOTHING !

...Just back from a wonderful stay at The Star hotel in Kingussie. We stayed for a 5 night break in Sept. and cannot find fault. We were welcomed by the owner, and shown to our room. Good size, with large double bed, nice dressing table & warbrobe with plenty of space for all our walking gear. Tea & Coffe making facilities aswell as an iron & hairdryer. You can have the option of having a bath or shower, we chose bath, which was huge! Ample car parking behind the hotel which also doubles as a little beer garden. Breakfast & dinner included in price...and to be honest we have never eaten so much in our lives!!! Absolutely amazing especially for the price! A full range of choices for breakfast, fruits, cereals & of course porridge! Orange juice on tap! Once you've devoured that, a full breakfast menu to choose from...from the full...

Location, location, location

Advantages: Very central location, ideal for public transport and exploring the city
Disadvantages: Can be noisy as it is so near the main station

...Finding an affordable hotel in most Scandinavian cities tends to be a challenge, and this certainly proved to be the case on a recent business trip to Oslo. Norway is an expensive country for most overseas visitors and while the global economic downturn has depressed many European economies and driven prices down, Oslo seems to have remained largely unaffected - with the result that most hotels were well out of my price range. Still, the website for the Rica Oslo seemed promising and the hotel itself looked pretty smart, which in some cities is not always a given for accommodation so close to the main station. The location of this hotel is without doubt its greatest asset: no more than 5 minutes' walk separate the platforms for the Flytoget (Oslo airport express train) from the Rica Oslo reception desk. You head out of the front...
