* A Stay At The Lodge! *
Advantages: Cheap , Convenient , Location
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable sofa bed
...I stayed at the Travelodge in Oswestry a few months back as I was attending a wedding in the area and so needed somewhere to stay for the night. The wedding was at quite a posh hotel and so because we would be spending the whole day in the wedding and the night at the party, we didn't really want to fork out a lot of money for a room we wouldn't really be using. So , we opted for the Travelodge as it was the perfect match to what we had in mind.
The Travelodge in Oswestry is located at the part of Oswestry which is called 'Mile End'(only a couple of minutes away from the town centre). The lodge is situated at the side of the road , right next door to a Little Chef , Burger King . a tourist information centre and a service station , so it makes a great place to stop if you are on a long journey. It also has a large car park by it , so...

WYNN STAY OR WILL STAY? YOU DECIDE
Advantages: Excellent beer, good leisure facilities, ample parking
Disadvantages: Feather pillows, pefunctory efficient staff, leisure facilities in a different building, small room, cannot meet DDA requirements (at present)
...Why in the almighty ones name am I staying in a hotel in Oswestry you may well ask. I almost questioned the decision myself, but that?s another story.
I had a Monday meeting in Bolton and a Tuesday meeting in Newtown, Mid/North Wales, superb really as one is en-route home from the other. However, I have strict criteria when seeking hotels, if I can get a pool and high-speed internet access, fabulous, then High Speed Access, then a pool, at least one please to keep me amused. Sadly, once you head south from Wrexham and Chester, high speed internet access and middle / upper class hotel chains are both very few and far between, and I didn?t really want to trek all the way from Wrexham for a 10am meeting.
I stumbled across the Wynnstay rather by accident, and being part of the Best Western Chain it just had to be OK didn?t it? What...

Shropshire beautiful and varied
Advantages: Beautiful county
Disadvantages: Poor public transport
...Shropshire is the largest inland county in England. That is to say it is the largest county without a coastline.
Because Shropshire is so large, Shropshire contains many vastly different and fascinating locations within it.
In the south of Shropshire you will find the Shropshire Hills, including the Cardingmill Valley. In south Shropshire when one hears the accent and dialect you could easily believe that you were in the heart of the West Country.
Yet in the north of Shropshire near to Oswestry you would swear that you were in the middle of Wales. In fact there are parts of North Shropshire between Oswestry and the border with Wales where the native tongue is not English but Welsh.
In this part of Shropshire you are in the foothills of the Welsh Mountains and there is something about this part of Shropshire that I do love...

Dream Skin
Advantages: too many to write in this teeny-tiny space
Disadvantages: doesn't come in a litre bottle!
...you haven't got this, I highly recommend you get yourself a bottle. In fact, save up for it if you can't really afford. I got mine from Boots in Oswestry (oops, should I say that?) Well, It seems that you need to shop around for this little magic potion, because it sells out pretty quickly!
This is why I titled my review 'Dream Skin' Because it does just that.
* A tip: Use this at night time over your regular night cream...just so it last that little bit longer (If desired) Also try and put it directly on your skin with the nozzle if possible, that way you don't waste loads of it on the palm of your hands. Also this product would be a luxurious mini treatment for the back of your hands as it really helps with age spots and sun damage....

Oink Oink. The Bacon flavour is back
Advantages: Great tasting. Moorish
Disadvantages: Probably go away again
...Now, I have my work cut out here. I am attempting to take on a section already owned by the mighty DEANO! He too has written about these great crisps and now I have to match his quality if not his humour!
So the simple Quaver has had a flavour added to it then? Well, yes but it is not a new concept.
The Streaky Bacon flavour Quaver was first sampled by Andycharger on Sunday in a petrol station in Oswestry. Instantly, I forgot all about my beautiful wife that was sitting next to me and instead focused on the wonderful sensation that had entered my mouth!
Crisps people, Crisps!
Happily munching away on my snack, I suddenly had a flashback to days gone by...
The taste was the same. The smack was the same but the packet claimed it was new!
More on this later.
Its not often you can pull me away from the Walkers Salt and Vinegar...

PICK UP A BARGAIN
Advantages: service, quality, offers
Disadvantages: lack of some products
...with done with etiquette.
Now a little about Iceland: It was November 1970 when two Woolworth’s deputy manager clubbed together to find the £60 rent required for a shop in Oswestry. Following the discovery by Woolworth’s they were later sacked. However, by 1973 they had acquired some 18 stores, a sure sign of things to come. By 1978 that number had reached 28, an extra ten stores in just five years.
In 1983 Iceland bought the successful Bristol based St Catherine’s, and now could boast 75 stores. In January 1989 Iceland bought the highly successful Bejam stores, bringing their total store count up to 760 stores nationwide!
June 2000 the company bought Booker cash and carry, Britain’s biggest cash and carry, and currently has an annual turnover in excess of £5.5 billion. All from a £60 a week shop!

A touch of class...
Advantages: Reliable, economical and with creature comforts
Disadvantages: Lack of Storage
...I thought of considering a Peugeot following the many years my mother and sister have had trouble free motoring - with the 307 and the 206.
So I chose a 205 ? an old thing that cost a grand and got me to Wales and lasted over a year. But it wasn?t going to survive the daily slog to work or long trips to the South East. So what next? The 205 had kept me happy, so it seemed logical to stay loyal.
And so it was I ended up buying a 306 from a Peugeot from a dealer in Oswestry. It cost £7200 plus my wreck and although I couldn?t say whether or not that was value at the time two trouble free years and 42,000 miles later I am inclined to think it was.
THE MODEL: The 306 is no longer produced by Peugeot but is the predecessor to the current 307 and can best be described as a small family car. It was available in various engine...

That's why this Mum goes to Iceland less often.
Advantages: Free home delivery when you spend £25 in store
Disadvantages: Lack of space, staff and more...
...Iceland.
---------------------
History.
----------------
Iceland first opened its doors in 1970 when Malcolm Walker raised £60 to pay one months rent to start his idea in motion. The doors first opened to the first Iceland branch in Oswestry, Shropshire in November 1970. Although his venture Malcolm Walker continued working in his day job at Woolworths for several years. Iceland really took off though when Malcolm Walker was able to devote all his time to his project after being fired from his day job in Woolworths in 1975. The original concept of Iceland was to sell loose frozen food at affordable prices, however they decided to progress from this idea in 1978 when they opened there first purpose-built freezer centre in Stretford, Manchester. This was followed in 1979 by another purpose-built freezer centre and head office being...

Water. Water. Everywhere...
Advantages: A natural wonder worthy of the title
Disadvantages: Not for motorway dwellers
..., this makes it reasonably accessible from the English north-west and the Midlands. It lies in the upper reaches of a secluded valley that rents the fine Celtic badlands of the Berwyn Mountains, and is usually reached from Telford's A5 trunk road (slightly upgraded since his day). From the north, turn off the A5 at Oswestry down the A483, turning right onto the B4396 at the White Lion pub in Llyclys after a few miles, and then it's another 14 miles or so to Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant. If coming from the south, turn off the A5 at Nesscliffe and follow the B4396 all the way to Llanrhaeadr: on this route you get the full Llyclys crossroads experience, much enjoyed by anyone who appreciates the frisson of a potential t-bone collision. And if you're coming from the west, you're driving away from the best scenery, so turn around, you great eejit...
