Wonder pets, Wonder pets, we're on our way!

Advantages: Full of lessons, imagination and fun

Advantages: Herman Monster
Disadvantages: The wife of the family was annoying

...The plot revolves around the Creed family just moving into their new home beside a very busy road. Their neighbour meets and greets them. (He is played by the guy who played Herman Monster in the old tv series The Monsters.) He then takes them on a walk to Pet Sematary which is a Pet graveyard behind their house. The Other Other Boleyn Girl

Advantages: A great central performance from Natalie Portman.
Disadvantages: Wishy-washy characterisation and weak writing.

The film is after all based on Philippa Gregory's novel of the same name which, if it is anything like her other books, will concentrate on the sibling rivalry of the two sisters, rather than the political implications of their actions. To my mind this diminishes the scope of the film, making it a soapy romance rather than an historical drama. The characterisation feels overly simplistic as the two leads are such polar opposites and the contrast is too great to feel natural. Anne is dark physically and emotionally; calculating and conniving. Her sexuality is more overt and she understands the power it gives her over men. A Platypus for a Pet? Or a Komodo Dragon?

..., and to prove it the corner of that particular page appears to have been eaten. Moving on, there are assorted little brown creatures at 10p the lot, including a mouse, a bear and a rabbit. One would think that was an excellent bargain, but rat says these creatures are boring whereas he can stand on one leg. Finally, the boy comes to a large door behind which the rat claims lies a dragon. Do such things really exist? Why yes, it's a komodo dragon, for just 25p. Rat seems a little crestfallen at this stage and doesn't expect the boy to buy him. Having now seen all the pets on offer, the boy has to count his money and see what he can afford before he makes his choice.
