Oxford United, is the season slipping away?

Advantages: Great local team, have the potential and the backing to be brilliant!
Disadvantages: Inconsistent, regularly toy with the fans emotions!

...After reading a terrific review on Oxford United, I felt that an update on the 'most-loved' (well, in my eyes!) Conference team was appropriate. First of all, a bit about me and my love for my local team. Between the ages of 5 and 14 I was lucky enough to play for Oxford and the Centre of Excellence at the club who have produced such footballing talent as Dean Whitehead, now of Sunderland and other youngsters who have broken into the first-team over the years (notably Jamie Cook, Joey Beauchamp and the Weatherstones). When I was released by the club for being 'too small', harsh but possibly true considering I was a centre-midfielder at the time(!), instead of turning my back on the club which would have been very easy considering the reason for release, strangely I began to become an even bigger fan of my local team. ...--Relegation to the Conference, Glory Days, Massive Debt, and the future of Oxford United-- Having painfully witnessed the U's get relegated at the end of last season with it all coming down to the last game, a home tie against Leyton Orient at the almighty Kassam Stadium, I thought that I would write a piece about my beloved Oxford United and life in the Conference. At the aforementioned game I felt that Oxford played their hearts out, however we just didn't have the strength to defeat a Leyton Orient side that despite securing promotion to League 1 with a 3-2 win over us looked pretty poor. No mum it's not a petrol station, it's the Holiday Inn Oxford.

Advantages: Great Price. Good location for roads. Next to park and ride, cheaper than paying for parking!
Disadvantages: Another Holiday Inn, nothing that unique about it. Surly reception staff.

We have had a rather turbulent year so my brother and I felt it was necessary to take my mother and father away for a birthday celebration as a family. OXFORD TUBE - SIMPLY AND EASY TO USE

Advantages: stressfree, quick, easy to use
Disadvantages: may be separated if bus is full up

...We went to London on Saturday to see The Sound Of Music at the London Palladium. As accommodation is expensive in London, we decided to stay at our usual Premier Travel Inn at Didcot and drive in. However, somebody recommended the Oxford Tube, so we decided to give ourselves a stress free trip and not have to worry about parking and booked the Oxford Tube instead. What is the Oxford Tube? Well, The Oxford Tube is a bus service that at peak times runs every 15 minutes between Oxford and London. We were very happy with the Tube and will definitely be using it again. There are a number of stops in Oxford where you can get on and off, namely: Speedwell Street, St Aldgates, Gloucester Green, High Street, St Clements, Oxford Brookes University, Headington, Gladstone Road, Green Road and Sandhills. Its all gone horribly wrong

Disadvantages: poor football

...Big Joe has now gone and things are getting decidedly sticky for Oxford. In fact, with 3 months of the season remaining, you could safely say they will be playing division 3 football next season. Now, Im not an Oxford fan. I have been there twice last year. Once last season (99-00) to see my beloved Wrexham put 4 past them without reply and again in October to see Wrexham Score another 4 past them as well as conceeding 3. Now, you cannot survive at any division, never mind Division 2 letting in goals like that. 2 Games. 8 Goals. That is bad. Where is the problem? Well, its not the Strikers. They actually look quite menacing and dangerous with a sniff of goal. Its not the midfield as they seem to control the park from time to time. Its in the tactics. ...The aura surrounding Oxford is one which contributes significantly to the pressure on students who are accepted to the university. Not only do they have to contend with very intense workloads and deadlines, but they have to finish term without collapsing and return home to face the curiosity (and often anticipation) of friends and family - making it difficult to admit that the experience may not be as rewarding as it seemed initially. My own experience of Oxford (so far, as a 1st year) has been very mixed and very intense. Without a doubt, the college you find yourself at and the course you have chosen can make or break your time at the university - because there is simply no time to turn back once term has begun.
