My Brother's mate
Review of Brother TZ 231 - labels - 1 pcs. by
donf18
Advantages: Weatherproof and long lasting, good adhesive qualities
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
...I recently purchased a Brother P-Touch 1000 label machine from Lidl for a measly £10 a super bargain. It came supplied with a tape instruction manual and batteries. Having browsed the net and local shops for replacement tapes I have discovered than the average price for said is around £9. It was almost cheaper to buy another machine with tape, in fact if you count the batteries that ain't such a bad idea.
I have used many such machines over the years including the ever popular Dymo which simply embossed a plastic strip....................such were those simpler far off days. As with all things technological they have come on leaps and bounds and the tapes used these days are far more advanced than you might think.
The TZ is a specially laminated tape which aids much in its claims that it will weather pretty much all conditions...

Could be just a little better
Review of Brother P-Touch 2420PC by
IntraSpark
Advantages: Easy to use, create professional looking labels
Disadvantages: Limited design flexibility, poor quality graphics reproduction
...The P-touch 2420 seemed to offer the best combination of functionality and cost in a PC-enabled label printer, although this op does not provide a comparative analysis of other models on the market, as the 2420 is the only one I've tried...
THE BASICS
It should be clarified that this is a THERMAL MONOCHROME printer - don't be misled by colourful marketing blurb promising 'colourful labels'.
The only possibility of introducing colour is by changing the tape that you print onto. To be fair there is a range of tape options (all supplied separately by the manufacturer), which allow the printing of black graphics and text on white, red, yellow, green and transparent coloured backgrounds.
The tape, as I refer to it, is a cartridge of self-adhesive PVC (slightly thicker and tougher than sellotape) specially designed to provide the medium...

Label me, baby...
Review of Brother P-Touch 65 by
Torombolina
Advantages: Small, easy, Prints look nice
Disadvantages: Maybe the price
...Hello everybody,
this is my very first review in Ciao.uk. I normally write reviews for Ciao.de in Germany of course in the German language.
I would like to write about my newest labeling system, the brother P-Touch (PT-65) 65. I bought it in Germany for about 30 Euro (40 Dollars, I do not know the currency rate into GBP).
The labels produced by this system are very clear on its paper/label.
You certainly want to know how to print and produce the label, don't you? Ok, here comes the answer:
First of all, you must unsert six AA alkaline batteries in the back of the machine. After that you may want to insert the tape cassette, also in the back of the machine. Afterwards, you may turn on the PT65 by pressing the ON/OFF button on the front of the machine. Now you can enter a text with a maximum of 55 characters and when...

Great tape. This is about TAPE.
Review of Sony P5-90HMP3 Tape by
andycharger
Advantages: High quality tape that does not suffer from degradation
Disadvantages: Hard to get hold of.
...***NOTE! This has been called a camcorder by mistake on ciao! It is actually a camcorder tape!***
When it comes to camcorders, a camera is only as good as its tape. Im quite lucky because I own a good make of Camera. A Sony One. However, I also match the quality of camera with a quality tape. A Sony one!
Why?
Well, Sony Tapes are obviously engineered to perform best in a Sony Camera. For this reason, I bought a 3 pack at the airport on my honeymoon. The price was £7.95 so about £2.64 per tape.
For my £2.64, I am getting 90 whole minutes of sheer quality recordable tape that does not grain or lose quality with usage. No stretching or deformity.
Just excellent recording and playback time after time.
With a 90 minute tape such as this, you are getting an optimum tape quality. 60 minute tapes are too short in recording time and lead...

Tape is dead
Review of Sony DAT 4 GB by
ben-lloyd
Advantages: Small, lightweight, efficient, reliable. does what it says
Disadvantages: Tape, small capacity, price, slow, storage/usage issues
...The Sony DGD120P is the second incarnation of the DDS tape format used for computer backup in the 1990s. Back in the days when company data took up a few gigabytes of disk space, the DDS2 cartridge provided a relatively cheap and efficient way to backup and restore data easily.
~~~ Appearance ~~~
Looking not unlike a modern Mini-DV casette, the DGD120P measures 72mm x 52mm x 10mm in black plastic with a small window showing the tape spooled inside. Unlike a video casette, the tape contained within cannot be easily accessed by prying fingers and the wheels used for spooling the tape are inaccessible until the cartridge is inserted into a drive. On the spine of the cartridge is a small white switch allowing the user to write-protect the tape and preserve a copy of the data contained thereupon.
Each cartridge is also supplied...
What a bargain
Review of Brother P-Touch 1000 by
donf18
Advantages: Prints various sizes in great quality
Disadvantages: Replacement tapes a bit pricey
...I use a lot of labels partly at work and partly at home so I was on the look out for a bargain. Lo and behold a stonker of one came along just by chance courtesy of Lidl stores.
As some of you may know Lidl have bi weekly bargains on offer throughout their chain of stores and as luck would have it this item was available for a fantastic price of just £9.99.
The unit is black in colour on all sides and the front face, but the rear of the printer is red. This does make it look slightly odd, but it is the printing that matters. It comes supplied with a black on white tape cartridge, which is 12mm wide and 8m long, so this should provide me with a lot of labels. It also is supplied with 6 AAA batteries for battery operation. It is possible to use a transformer but one is not supplied.
The instruction manual is brief but to the point...
Review of Sony Cassette player by
somebodyrandom
Advantages: The oppostie of disadvantages
Disadvantages: Oooh... a big word
....
It was then that I realised that it wasn't a Walkman, but just a tape player. Yes a simple tape player. No radio, not even a sign of a tuner or a little am/fm button. No. Just a sodden, rotten tape player.
The tape player is fairly small, measuring 10cm x 6cm x 2cm. It is made out of plastic, however the case is made to look like it is metallic. It is silver and does look quite good, which is until you scratch it and the white plastic sticks through.
The buttons are fairly innovative, they actually work. There is a large round button on the front, which is actually four buttons. It is similar to a joystick, press it up the tape plays, down it stops, left it rewinds and right it fast-forwards. Simple to use and the buttons are the feather touch ones, meaning they are light to touch (yes, its stating the bloody obvious, but I don't know the IQ of everyone...
Walking with Sony
Review of Sony Cassette player by
sadcrab
Advantages: Build quality, size and features
Disadvantages: None
...The Sony WM-EX 605 is purely a personal cassette player. I bought one last week for my six year old daughter, as she likes to listen to books on tape.
The unit features are: Feather touch controls, auto reverse, remote control, and up to 35 hour battery life.
Feather touch controls basically just a gentle touch of the button will activate that function. Auto reverse well this turns the tape over without removing the tape from the unit but this is an intelligent auto reverse it can be programmed to play both sides of the tape once or continuous play (where the tape will continue to play until the player is stopped). Remote control this is fitted on the headphone cable and controls the volume, oh it also controls all the other functions as well Play, Fast Forward, Rewind, Stop and Auto reverse! Battery life well it’s supposed to last up...
realistic prices great service
Review of cd-wow.co.uk by
murky5
Advantages: The latest CD's at the best price I've found.Free P&P
Disadvantages: 4-9 days delivery
...the stock runs out.These sell at £6.99 and include many not so old releases.
If you do not have a CD player they also sell cassette tapes of the more popular releases for a reasonable £5.99
The good thing about these prices is that they INCLUDE P&P, so there are no hidden extras to pay.
The website is very easy to navigate even for someone like me who is by no means an expert in these matters.
I know that some people are impulse buyers or will want to have their chosen CD there and then,which is their choice.But if like me you are prepared to wait between 4-9 days for the CD to arrive in order to save yourself a few quid then I suggest you try this for yourself.
The deliveries have nearly always been at the lower end of the range with only one taking around 9 days to arrive.
You can pay in a variety of ways...
Hooray For the Gang
Review of Hooray For Boobies - Bloodhound Gang (The) by
Nickfeather
Advantages: Whole Album is GREAT!
Disadvantages: none @ all
...A great album, dull of dum lyrics and sex crazed songs this is an album that ur parents MUST NOT borrow! my parents heard it and snapped the tape, the varied use of vocal chords give the songs that "bad touch" this is a great album.
It has a variation of pop songs, rock and alternitive songs make this album something fun to listen to, perhaps a good party album.
This album has hit The Bad Touch on and The Ballad of Chasey Lain. This album will stay @ the top with the rest for quite a while, it is good compared to the other albums released.
8/10*...
