...Background: My boss has been singing the praises of P.J. Tracy for the past year. So under considerable pressure I finally relented and decided to give it a go. I am always conscious when someone recommends an author to you that opinions vary and what one person loves anything may loathe. The Author: This was a complete shock to me for a start. A book written by two authors! In this case it was a mother/daughter combination of Traci and PJ Lambrecht. I'm so glad I found this out after reading it otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered, as I would have expected the book to be very disjointed. This was their first best selling thriller. ...monthly fee is £12.99 ? a bargain by the sounds of it? The web site is easy enough to navigate around once you have found your bearings, and the selection of films is great. The company recommend you have at least ten films on your list, which is not hard to choose from the choice available. I do worry a bit about the posting of the films and them getting lost, but the company are understanding in this worry and inform you that they will not charge and send out a new film if they get lost in the post. If you are going away or have a major bill to pay you can freeze your membership for up to 60 days: This is especially handy if you are going on holiday Overall I would recommend DVDs 365 as they are reliable, offer a good choice and a good selection of packages. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Disadvantages: Slow going in the middle

...Sole Survivor As a big Stephen King fan a friend persuaded me to read this Koontz Novel. I was assured he was on a par with Mr King but after reading it I think their writing styles are too different to draw comparisons. Without giving the plot away this is a very well researched book that only just steps into the realms of science fiction. Joe, the main character in the book is devastated by a loss and one-year on from the tragedy he finds he is being followed. From his past as an investigative journalist, he draws on all his resources to try and shake what at first he believes are the police following him. It later becomes clear that the people who are following him have almost inexhaustible resources and aren?t afraid to kill to get what they want. Advantages: Gallops along at a cracking pace

...? For a long time now I have avoided reading any of the books in this series, written by mother and daughter writing team P J Tracy. All too often, I am disappointed by books that have been highly acclaimed and I suspected that the same would happen with this series. However, when I was given a copy, I couldn't resist digging in. Far fom being disappointed, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and devoured it in a matter of hours. Not having read any of the previous books in the series, I was worried that I wouldn't understand the relationships between the recurring characters. I needn't have worried. Although Gino and Magozzi are very much involved in the investigation, the story concentrates on the investigation rather than their private lives and didn't leave me at all confused. A review of Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz

Advantages: A brilliant fast paced read... unputdownable!
Disadvantages: The only disadvantage is that I can't ever read it again for the first time!

...As a lifelong Steven King fan, I love anything Supernatural or spooky and I have not been disappointed with Dean Koontz! Sole Survivor is one of the best books I have ever read. I actually even shed a tear at the end! It is a fast read, full of mystery, adventure, hope, loss, human nature and the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. I suppose if I had to catergorise it, I would call it a Sci Fi, but it is really much more than that. Whilst reading it, I found myself beleiving every word! Dean Koontz has a talent for making even the most outlandish idea perfectly reasonable, logical and beleivable. I would recommend this book to anyone. In fact, I even recommended it to my mother (a lifelong Mills and Boon romance reader) and she thouroughly enjoyed it, although she did say " Sometimes it was too scary to put down...
