Packard Bell EasyNote GN45-032 Skype edition

Advantages: Great little laptop with lots of useful features
Disadvantages: The disk drive stopped working, but still in warenty

...The laptop that I am reviewing is very slightly different to the one featured, as it is the packard bell easynote GN45-032, although the only real difference is that my laptop has a 160GB memory compared to the GN45-P-050 which has 80GB, mine did not come with vista loaded, but have since loaded it and my laptop is a skype edition which basically means that it has a button next to the camera which takes you straight to skype, which is a programme which allows the user to make free video internet phone calls to anyone anywhere in the world. Packard Bell easynotes SW-51

Advantages: Large 17" glossy display, Numeric keypad
Disadvantages: No Serial or Parralell ports

...The Packard Bell easynote Laptop PC is a very nice looking machine with it's wide screen aspect 17 inch display giving room for a full sized keyboard with numeric keypad to the right hand side. the screen is of the glossy type and make using this machine a delight offing good contrast between light and dark area's in the display. It does not have a Floppy drive but these are not used much today anyway other lacking things are external ports, there is no serial or parralell ports although there are 4 hi-speed usb port 2 on the right rear and 2 on the right side, there is VGA output on the left and SVHS outputs on the rear, also a built in modem and Ethernet connection both at the left side of the machine. it has a DVD/cd writer and a large 'mouse pad' with easy to use left and right buttons as you would expect the mouse pad can also...

Advantages: Very quick processor, large memory, all mod cons
Disadvantages: As with anything too technical they tend to have glitches

...is very black and shiny, which makes any films or programmes you watch on it absolutely magnificent. When closed it is about an inch thick and slightly bigger than the 15.4" screen. My brother is a computer shop owner and does consultancy work for big companies. He gave me the name of someone he buys laptops off. This contact sells refurbished machines as new. My laptop came with no visible signs of having being used before. I am assured that he puts new casing on them and basically gets them back to the state they were originally sold in. ...I exchanged my Apple iBook G4 for a Packard Bell EasyNote R0205 (second hand), the EasyNote is 512MB Ram, 50Gb HDD, 15" Screen, Gigabite Wireless Card, Windows XP Professional installed. I am generally quite happy with the laptop and use it nearly all the time, I have quit using my desktop which is very powerful compared to the easynote. But even with my constant use I have found a few problems. - Cheaply created laptop - Old Model for Today - The laptop mouse always has occasional problems I wanted a laptop for everyday use, so something quite powerful but with all the flaws it does the trick. Advantages: 120gb hardrive, the style is good.
Disadvantages: There should be 2gb RAM, the battery is very poor.

However if your one of those who use computers a lot, I personally don't think this product is going to be suitable for you: The battery is only 1.5hours, if you are going to take this product outside then you will always have to charge it. The hardrive is 120gb, this is quite big. The processor speed is only 1.6, the RAM is 1gb but Windows Vista premium takes a lot of the RAM. This causes the computer to slow down. The maximum RAM you can upgrade to is 2gb. I personally think this computer is only good for those who are going to use it for school, college work. It is not suitable for those who are going to take their laptop outside for example when they go to holiday....

...A fantastic laptop i must say! Im not that technical when it comes to features although im doing Alevel computing ! Generally this comuter does everything i need, i can play high res games on here on the internet i can download my music and play it , which i must say sound is crisp and brilliant on this laptop. I store all my photos and do all my schoolwork on here. Lots of memory which is quite har to fill up! Recognizes all hardware i use such as printers etc and can be setup wirelessly to a network. One of the best feauters is the screen size its brilliant way bigger than standard laptop screens and i love it! Only downfall is that my cd reader.writer has broke which i hope to get fixed ! other than that no problems! reccomended by me!...

Advantages: reliable, customer support is awesome
Disadvantages: heats up really quickly as the cool air goes through bottom, cd writer stopped working

...I have been using desktop pcs until i started university and decided to buy a laptop. Alot of people asked me to buy from Dell but i could not resist the price tag and spec of this machine about 3 years ago. yes, i have been using this laptop since 3 years now when it first came out. It has been very reliable, i have not had any big issues with it. It cost me £900, for 1.49Ghz processor, 224 Ram, 20GB disk, DVD/CDRW combo drive. Operating system was not provided with the machine or any rebooting software and this was sorted initially after one phone call to PC World as it was their fault. The CDRW has stopped working NOW and it only READS cds for some reason. It did work till 2 years and it probably does not work now because of me...i burn alot ;) Overall this is very reliable and packard bell customer support is great...
