It is much less bulky and easier to hold than previous models and may therefore appeal to the more style conscious business person. The Centro retains the same operating system as previous Palm's and this can be a little confusing at times, it is not especially flash and often looks rather retro however it is a solid system which works well. The camera is not great quality but this is a phone designed for business and on that you cannot fault it; the calender and other applications make it easy to organise yourself and the contact list is extensive with the opportunity to associate many details with each contact. One small issue is that the on/off button can be pressed unintentionally but again it is simply a case of getting used to it...

An unwinnable case?

Centro Hotel, very central

Advantages: Pleasant staff, good size room, cheap, quiet

...I stayed in the Hotel centro when i went to Florence towards the end of 2006. It is located in a superb spot within walking distance from the station which was a first advantage. The hotel itself is based upstairs over a supermarket which closes at around 10 at night and is down a quieter back street therefore it is a reasonably quiet street, meaning you get a good nights sleep. On arrival you have to buzz in, so a receptionist, who are on 24 hours, can let you into the building. You go upstairs to the small reception desk. Advantages: Protects.
Disadvantages: None.

...First the technical stuff, the case is made of plastic, ethylene-vinyl acetate actually, which is a form of soft thermoplastic, including recycled materials, so you could say you are doing your bit for the environment. The outer covering is hardwearing Nylon. The carry case comes complete with a wrist strap, although personally I would not trust it. It has an improved zip, apparently the old one was prone to jamming. The picture Ciao have put up is of the old model, the new one is very similar, just a little more subtle. These cases are a good idea for keeping dust and scratches at bay, however, it may have been a better idea if the case was fitted with belt loops, so you could carry it on your belt, or a strap like binoculars have, rather than risk it slipping out of your pocket, or even leaving it in the car. Advantages: A neat unit with lots of applications

...use. It is very user friendly with the exception of Docs to go which does require a bit of practice. To aid in the speed there are four buttons on the bottom part of the Palm which although are preset to certain programs can by the use of preferences be reprogrammed to those applications of your choice. My Palm cost me £99.90 from Amazon and I think it was a very good purchase, but then I am a gadget man a would probably say that anyway. I also purchased the aluminium case for £18 which protects my little gem. I'm not going to kid you it isn't the best handheld on the market, but the rest are all away in the £200 bracket so for value for money it is a pretty good buy....

Advantages: everything! cheap reliable, fantastic features
Disadvantages: no spare stylus or screen protectors in box

...I got my new Palm TX in August this year and I have been very impressed with its performance and flexibility. I previously owned a Palm Tungsten E which screen was 320 x 320 resolution and had no Bluetooth or Wi-fi, so these 2 features are great additions for me. For those who have never used a PDA they are all touch screen and most have handwriting recognition to save having a keyboard and in Palm handhelds this is called Graffiti and is very handy when writing as you can just write as you normally would. The Screen size of the TX is 320 x 460 so videos can be viewed in landscape and portrait modes, so effectively can be in widescreen. The video quality is very impressive and I would highly recommend in investing in a 2GB SD card for those long journeys. Advantages: An enjoyable 60 minutes
