...I've owned this Palm for just under 9 months now and it has been quite an eye opener. I had wanted to own one of these since they first came out but the initial cost was rather expensive so I held off until it dropped in price. I bought it to help me through the final few months of my degree by keeping me organised (and entertained). The unit is solidly built and comes with a clip on screen cover. It has served me well, and is especially good for typing documents when combined with a folding keyboard. It is much easier to carry than a laptop and makes less noise, which was good when I had to do work in the library. The bluetooth function is very useful. ...I got my new Palm TX in August this year and I have been very impressed with its performance and flexibility. I previously owned a Palm Tungsten E which screen was 320 x 320 resolution and had no Bluetooth or Wi-fi, so these 2 features are great additions for me. For those who have never used a PDA they are all touch screen and most have handwriting recognition to save having a keyboard and in Palm handhelds this is called Graffiti and is very handy when writing as you can just write as you normally would. The Screen size of the TX is 320 x 460 so videos can be viewed in landscape and portrait modes, so effectively can be in widescreen. The video quality is very impressive and I would highly recommend in investing in a 2GB SD card for those long journeys. Palm Top of the pile

Advantages: Light, powerful, elegant, good battery life, lots of software available.
Disadvantages: Not a stand alone product

...on battery life, is that the battery life is greatly reduced if you use the backlit mode for your palm. For people who are always on the move, and not always near a charger, there is also a highly useful thing called the power clip (see www.powerclip.de), which allows you to charge your Palm from a 9V battery, only half charging it, but this may well stop you from running on empty and thereby losing everything. Similarly using the IR beam is another way to diminish battery life, and it is reckoned that 1 minute of beaming takes 1 hour of the length of time the battery will hold for. For anyone syncing with a desktop computer, then there is also now a USB syncing cable, which also includes a charger, which eliminates the need to have to find a plug socket to connect the charger part of the hotsync cradle to. Palm Treo 680

Advantages: Small and well made, Palm OS
Disadvantages: a bit fiddly

...this phone it has crashed only a couple of times, which is surprisingly good. Palm OS however does not support 3G so the internet access is quite slow by the very latest standards, although fine for occasional use, so this is probably not an ideal device for someone who spends a lot of time surfing on the move. Battery life is not as good as my old T5 PDA and it does need to be charged almost on a daily basis, but then that is to be expected with such a lot of functionality in a single device. The memory is of course non-volatile so running out of battery power is not a major issue and all of the data is backed up during the syncing operation anyway. As a phone it is fairly good with reasonable reception and clarity. Over-all a very good substitute for two devices....

...I bought the E2 about a year ago (2007). Since then I have greatly enjoyed using it. This Palm Pilot comes with Real Player, and all the other great programs that Palm always includes. It is very easy to install new programs from the internet and on the disc that is included in the package. It is very handy when managing one's daily life. The Palm

Advantages: Great colour and comparative value for money. Rechargeable battery a big plus.
Disadvantages: Slightly bulkier than average PDA's

...The Palm IIIc handheld PDA is a great help for an experienced Palmer. First off, if you must have color this is a must have for you because the color is crisp and clear. If you would like a good audio, music, sound this is probably not for you because of the high peak of the volume, very low, would be too quiet to hear in a croud of people or any place where it is noisy. If you are a first user I would suggest the Palm X, Palm IIIe they are cheap and work great! I found the unit to have excellent contrast and display. Once you are used to colour - it is difficult to go back to monochromatic displays. This is the color version of the Palm 3 and looks better and clearer for it. Memory is not upgradable and 8mb is not a huge amount. I have 3mb left and starting to worry. Bad mistake but I will cope...
