...Ahh, the joys of using your palm for pleasure...NOT THAT WAY! I'm talking about the Palm Tungsten T handheld PDA, a fully functional, palm sized computer. I must admit, I'm a bit biased being a computer enthusiast but, on the flip side, that also means that you can trust what I'm saying as truthful and enthusiastic. With that said, on to the review. When the Tungsten T (TT) was initially released, it was heralded as the next generation of handheld devices. It has a unique sliding body which increases screen size by about ten percent. When closed, the TT is 9.5 centimeters (about 3.75 inches) in height, when open it is 11.5 cm in height (about 4.5 inches) and 1.5 cm (about .5 inch) thick. In closed position, the grafitti writing area is hidden. Very compact, though not something you want hanging in your shirt pocket behind...

Palm Tungsten vs Ipaq, sayonara Ipaq

Advantages: small, fast, sexy, best palm ever
Disadvantages: relatively high price

.... Memory The memory of the Palm is obviously much less than of the Ipaq (16mb vs 64mb!). However you don't need more given the different operating systems. Actually 16mb for a palm is relatively much more than 64mb for the Ipaq. Palm applications are so small that 16mb is more than enough. Moreover, both the palm and Ipaq have SSD/MMC expansion slots, so the storage possibilities are infinite Display I find the clor and brightness of the palm much nicer than of the Ipaq, although there is not much difference. However, if you view pictures on the palm, I found those to be much clearer than on the Ipaq. Software I still think there are more software applications for the palm than for the ipaq, although pocket pc software is catching up fast. Palm Tungsten T (2nd hand BUYERS BEWARE)

Advantages: Brilliant when new
Disadvantages: After two years use it begins to deteriorate

...I bought a brand new "T" to replace my Palm Vx which had done me a good turn but was beginning to play up. I loved the "T" right from the start, it was fast in its work, small for my handbag or pocket and did all the usual things like Date Book, Contacts, etc and one press on the Hot sync button on the cradle and all my Word and Excel documents and notes prepared on the go were transferred seamlessly to my home PC using the Documents to Go programme which came in the box. Photos downloaded from my PC are very good on the bright colour screen. Voice recorder is good too, but I soon changed the button on the side to "Date Book" for I often found the unit recording by itself having obviously touched the button by mistake on picking up the unit. Palm T3 - the perfect holiday companion

Advantages: Compact size to fit in pocket, but screen large enough to watch movies
Disadvantages: Unlike the later models, this does not have wi-fi

...Although this does not have wi-fi like the T5, and has a much smaller memory chip, it is still an excellent product. The memory problem is easy to get round by placing all large items like audio books and movies on cards instead of on the palm, and the wi-fi lack can supposedly be got round by using bluetooth for the internet, although I have not tried this. You have a choice of using the alpha numeric keyboard or writing directly on the the palm, both with the stylis, and both are very easy to use. This comes in very handy when you are out and about and need to write down something, for instance the details for an insurance claim of somebody who has backed into your car in a carpark. Palm Power

Advantages: Compact, user friendly, cheap, bluetooth
Disadvantages: No Wifi, low earphone output

...I've owned this Palm for just under 9 months now and it has been quite an eye opener. I had wanted to own one of these since they first came out but the initial cost was rather expensive so I held off until it dropped in price. I bought it to help me through the final few months of my degree by keeping me organised (and entertained). The unit is solidly built and comes with a clip on screen cover. It has served me well, and is especially good for typing documents when combined with a folding keyboard. It is much easier to carry than a laptop and makes less noise, which was good when I had to do work in the library. The bluetooth function is very useful. ...This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It incorporates most of the latest features and technology that is currently available on the market. Unfortunately it contributes significantly to global warming. It's really a great little device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. Review of Greasy Palm

Top 5 Reason to chose the Palm T/X

Advantages: Speed, versatility, capability, and ease of use!
Disadvantages: Doesn't play well with Vista (then again what does?)

...5 Reasons I think the Palm T/X is a great find. I began my PDA journey with the Handspring Visor , outgrew it and moved on to Handspring Visor Deluxe; bought most of the springboard modules, fax/modem, camera, memory, keyboard, etc and finally sold it and turned to the (all in one) Sony Clie NR70V (which I subsequently over worked and burned out). Thus began my 2 year search for a better PDA. I don't know why it took me so long to come back to the originator of the PDA, but I choose the Palm T/X, for five reasons. #1. It's a Palm! One of the ONLY businesses that's still in the business of making and supporting PDA's. I have nothing against the Blackberry, Treo, I-Phone or others, but it's comforting to know that the product I bought is backed by the same business that started it. In you Palm

Advantages: A neat unit with lots of applications
Disadvantages: None

...use. It is very user friendly with the exception of Docs to go which does require a bit of practice. To aid in the speed there are four buttons on the bottom part of the Palm which although are preset to certain programs can by the use of preferences be reprogrammed to those applications of your choice. My Palm cost me £99.90 from Amazon and I think it was a very good purchase, but then I am a gadget man a would probably say that anyway. I also purchased the aluminium case for £18 which protects my little gem. I'm not going to kid you it isn't the best handheld on the market, but the rest are all away in the £200 bracket so for value for money it is a pretty good buy....
