...I chose the Palm Treo 500 for the fact that it has a full keypad for typing, in the style of the blackberry and iphone design rather than having to rely on predictive text etc for email, and although the buttons are naturally small, this aspect of the phone is still very appealing. Caps lock typing can be very awkward however... As a macintosh user, I wasn't sure about using a windows based product, but the functionality is very good and simple to use. Email - for a pop3/imap4 account, once set up works very well although it helps if you have experience of setting up email accounts as you need to know all the settings or where to get hold of them... Internet I find is perfectly functional but the screen size makes browsing frustrating! It is important with the Palm Treo and similar products to not expect too much from these facilities...

Palm Treo 680

Advantages: Small and well made, Palm OS
Disadvantages: a bit fiddly

...This is a well thought-out device with a good touch sensitive screen and a surprisingly usable keyboard, even for people like me, with fat fingers. I have used Palm OS PDAs for many years so I have a lot of data and applications from previous devices that I want to maintain and I was keen to stay with the Palm OS operating system rather than switch to Windows at this stage. It was easy to move the Treo 680 from my Palm T5 without any loss of data. Now I only need to carry one device instead of a PDA and a phone. The stylus is a bit fiddly to use when compared to the chunky T5 one, but then the stylus is not needed as much given that the keyboard replaces the need for text entry with the stylus. My review on PalmOne Treo 650

Advantages: Super Quality screen, easy2use keyboard, All in one device, bluetooth, infra, EDGE, lot palm based software.
Disadvantages: No Wi-Fi, low build in memory, so so battery life.

Palm Treo 750v - brilliant

Advantages: One machine to carry. Quick internet access. Easy to operate

...Having been a heavy user of palm pda's for a few years I was reluctant to part with them, however it was getting a bind carrying my mobile phone and pda around with me. Good phone, but screen is easy to scratch!

...I like the palm treo 500 - it looks good and provides plenty of features for users on the go, my favourite being the email feature - now I get emails delivered to my phone I can't imagine life without it. The Palm treo seems to have everything, but one problem remains - it just isn't hard wearing enough. Within the first week of me getting my phone the screen had light scratches on it and by the end of the first month it got so bad that it was hard to use the phone - I don't believe this is because I don't look after it, it remains in my jacket most of the time and every other phone I have owned has always looked immaculate with a well kept screen, the palm treo though hasn't followed in this tradition! Luckily I managed to find some screen polish on ebay that manages to get rid of these scratches, but it does get annoying to keep...

PALM TREO 750. GOOD LOOKER WITH USER PROBLEMS.

Advantages: IT DOES A JOB, GOOD LOOKING, SMALL.
Disadvantages: MANUFACTURERS ENGINEERING PROBLEMS

...lost that advantage although it is still possible to use it with the qwerty keypad that is good. Large fingers such as mine have a disadvantage but that is not a reason to moan. Another downside is that the battery life after a full charge is relatively short, you can find yourself with a flat battery after about 6 to 8 hours usage or less. I purchased a heavy duty battery specially to combat this problem. Now the Palm is too large to sit safely in its snug leather protective case. Oh dear! My biggest moan and findings of many who own one of these Palm Treo 750 are the same as I have stated and they have written to Palm regarding this matter of inactive, non-working touch-screen. No replies! Palm still make and do sell this model without having dealt with the very bad problem it has. There is no known cure as far as I can discern after...

Palm Treo 650 :)

Advantages: brilliant bright screen, palm os platform

Advantages: It's the new Treo 650! But it's a 680!

I found out to my disgust that when my Treo 650 went badly wrong, Orange could no replace with another 650 nor could they upgrade me to a 680, as their agreement with Treo had ended. Sad. So did my contract with Orange. Treo was and remains the best on the market in my mind. They pre-date the Blackberry and have always been better than any Blackberry model. Stylish, good range of features and fast internet, but poor build

Advantages: Good size, good features, easy to use, feels good, stylish, fast internet and good battery life.
Disadvantages: Poor build quality, some software issues.

...Having used Palm for several years in varying shape and form, when looking for a new mobile phone to replace a Nokia, given good experiences of Palm in the past, it seemed a good idea to give their new (as was then) smart phone a try. The first three or so months of owning the phone proved the 500 has plenty of features and is rather user friendly, it felt and looked great and build quality hadn't proven to be much of a problem, however after this time, things started to go downhill. The main glitch would be the socket used to plug in a USB cable / charger. The quality of this is has proven to be questionable, considering that it is very easy to disconnect the socket from the main circuit board inside the phone, making charging either challenging or impossible.
