Palm Treo 680

Advantages: Small and well made, Palm OS
Disadvantages: a bit fiddly

...This is a well thought-out device with a good touch sensitive screen and a surprisingly usable keyboard, even for people like me, with fat fingers. I have used Palm OS PDAs for many years so I have a lot of data and applications from previous devices that I want to maintain and I was keen to stay with the Palm OS operating system rather than switch to Windows at this stage. It was easy to move the Treo 680 from my Palm T5 without any loss of data. Now I only need to carry one device instead of a PDA and a phone. The stylus is a bit fiddly to use when compared to the chunky T5 one, but then the stylus is not needed as much given that the keyboard replaces the need for text entry with the stylus. My review on PalmOne Treo 650

Advantages: Super Quality screen, easy2use keyboard, All in one device, bluetooth, infra, EDGE, lot palm based software.
Disadvantages: No Wi-Fi, low build in memory, so so battery life.

Palm Treo 750v - brilliant

Advantages: One machine to carry. Quick internet access. Easy to operate
Disadvantages: Lousy camera, ringtones

...Having been a heavy user of palm pda's for a few years I was reluctant to part with them, however it was getting a bind carrying my mobile phone and pda around with me. I thought long and hard about the choices and decided to stick with Palm and go for the Treo 750v. I sold my phone and pda on ebay and away I went. I have now used the Treo for 4 weeks and feel I made the right decision... why? The treo if is has any fault is larger than my mobile phone and it took some getting used to the size, also I don't always get the same clarity with reception. Palm Treo 650 :)

Advantages: brilliant bright screen, palm os platform
Disadvantages: arial sticking out, rather big design-form

...Back in June when Palm had the 'football game' competition on, I won my trusty little (well actually rather large) treo 650. I believe that the only reason I find it large is because I have had lighter, smaller sony ericsson phones beforehand. the Palm Treo 500 - a macintosh users perspective!

Advantages: keypad, email, bubble breaker
Disadvantages: battery life

...I chose the Palm Treo 500 for the fact that it has a full keypad for typing, in the style of the blackberry and iphone design rather than having to rely on predictive text etc for email, and although the buttons are naturally small, this aspect of the phone is still very appealing. Caps lock typing can be very awkward however... As a macintosh user, I wasn't sure about using a windows based product, but the functionality is very good and simple to use. Email - for a pop3/imap4 account, once set up works very well although it helps if you have experience of setting up email accounts as you need to know all the settings or where to get hold of them... Internet I find is perfectly functional but the screen size makes browsing frustrating! It is important with the Palm Treo and similar products to not expect too much from these facilities...

Apple iPhone: The Future of mobile phones?

Advantages: It's the new Treo 650! But it's a 680!
Disadvantages: None

...The Treo 680. A fantastic upgrade from the treo 600 and treo 650. Unless you are an Orange customer. I found out to my disgust that when my Treo 650 went badly wrong, Orange could no replace with another 650 nor could they upgrade me to a 680, as their agreement with Treo had ended. Sad. So did my contract with Orange. Treo was and remains the best on the market in my mind. They pre-date the Blackberry and have always been better than any Blackberry model. Easy to use, fast and full of so many features, you'll think it's the Sunday Times in your palm. The Treo 680 in grey and silver - and I think there is a red version on the market, too. Many of the original features from its old 600 and 650 predecessors are retained, such as the single switch at the top of the unit to switch the ringer on or off. Simple. And miles...

Good phone, but screen is easy to scratch!

Advantages: Nice looking phone, feature rich
Disadvantages: screen scratches, not the most durable phone on the market.

...I like the palm treo 500 - it looks good and provides plenty of features for users on the go, my favourite being the email feature - now I get emails delivered to my phone I can't imagine life without it. The Palm treo seems to have everything, but one problem remains - it just isn't hard wearing enough. Within the first week of me getting my phone the screen had light scratches on it and by the end of the first month it got so bad that it was hard to use the phone - I don't believe this is because I don't look after it, it remains in my jacket most of the time and every other phone I have owned has always looked immaculate with a well kept screen, the palm treo though hasn't followed in this tradition! Luckily I managed to find some screen polish on ebay that manages to get rid of these scratches, but it does get annoying to keep...
