Palm Tungsten vs Ipaq, sayonara Ipaq

Advantages: small, fast, sexy, best palm ever
Disadvantages: relatively high price

...(!) casing of the Ipaq. I think overall the Ipaq used to be the sexiest PDA around, but the Tungsten has certainly taken that no.1 spot. I think the Tungsten also has a much more professional look. It lies very good in your palm and the stylus comfortably expands to reveal a pen sized stylus. Very easy to handle. The only minus is the plastic protection cover, which is quite handy but scrathes easily. Speed Much faster than the Ipaq! I think this is also due to the simpler operating system. You can switch applications with lightning speed without keeping previous applications in RAM. This is not the case with pocket PC software, where once opened applications keep running in the background. Palm Tungsten T (2nd hand BUYERS BEWARE)

Advantages: Brilliant when new
Disadvantages: After two years use it begins to deteriorate

...I bought a brand new "T" to replace my Palm Vx which had done me a good turn but was beginning to play up. I loved the "T" right from the start, it was fast in its work, small for my handbag or pocket and did all the usual things like Date Book, Contacts, etc and one press on the Hot sync button on the cradle and all my Word and Excel documents and notes prepared on the go were transferred seamlessly to my home PC using the Documents to Go programme which came in the box. Photos downloaded from my PC are very good on the bright colour screen. Voice recorder is good too, but I soon changed the button on the side to "Date Book" for I often found the unit recording by itself having obviously touched the button by mistake on picking up the unit. Dont stick your Tungsten at me, I Palm you up!

Advantages: Slim, large screen, portable, sexy, like a super model turned into a PDA
Disadvantages: Battery life, ugly interface, sounds like a dying giraffe sometimes

...screen is so sensitive it's like we're running our fingers along it's armpit. Minus smell. Since there isn't a keyboard you need to write freehand with the stylus. But the graffiti (the method of writing) writing thing this Palm uses it so easy to pick up you'll learn it within 5 minutes of switching it on. It's basically the way we write but just slightly altered for those hard to reach places. But what is a device without it's flaws? This machine is by no means perfect, the single speaker on it if turned up too high will growl at you like a Chihuahua having an asthma attack. Keep it at moderate levels! Recommend you use a pair of earphones and plug it into the earphone jack for MUCH better quality sound. The interface you interact with is Palm OS 5.2.1 but man is it an ugly grey interface. Definately not going to win any Miss World awards...

Tungsten T2 - Good all rounder

...I've owned this Palm for just under 9 months now and it has been quite an eye opener. I had wanted to own one of these since they first came out but the initial cost was rather expensive so I held off until it dropped in price. I bought it to help me through the final few months of my degree by keeping me organised (and entertained). The unit is solidly built and comes with a clip on screen cover. It has served me well, and is especially good for typing documents when combined with a folding keyboard. It is much easier to carry than a laptop and makes less noise, which was good when I had to do work in the library. The bluetooth function is very useful. Palm T3 - the perfect holiday companion

Advantages: Compact size to fit in pocket, but screen large enough to watch movies
Disadvantages: Unlike the later models, this does not have wi-fi

...Although this does not have wi-fi like the T5, and has a much smaller memory chip, it is still an excellent product. The memory problem is easy to get round by placing all large items like audio books and movies on cards instead of on the palm, and the wi-fi lack can supposedly be got round by using bluetooth for the internet, although I have not tried this. You have a choice of using the alpha numeric keyboard or writing directly on the the palm, both with the stylis, and both are very easy to use. This comes in very handy when you are out and about and need to write down something, for instance the details for an insurance claim of somebody who has backed into your car in a carpark.
