...Palma on the Island of Majorca is a great place for shopping and doing a bit of sight seeing. We were staying in Palma Nova and being past the age when drinking all day in pubs and clubs, then flaking out on the beach seems a good way to spend a holiday, decided to find some 'civilized' life for a change. There are buses from all round the Island into Palma. The City itself is big. Everything is so spread out in the modern part and we found ourselves walking a long way to find major department stores and designer shops on the main road. However, we eventually found a wonderful shopping area in the old Arab Quarter of the City. This area is a maze of alleyways and small shops of all kinds. Hotel Armadams, Palma de Mallorca

Advantages: Well presented, friendly, welcoming, modern
Disadvantages: On a back street

...We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even though we weren't checking in until really late following a delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression. Voranova Apartments Palma Nova

Advantages: Dirty, old, only cleaned once a week

...The Voranova hotel was about half an hour from the airport and cost about 25euros, split between two, so wasn't too bad as the hotel transfer coach you could also book cost as much together and took about 2 hours stopping at every hotel that existed! The hotel was in a good location, a few minutes walking distance from Palma Nova town centre and the beach. It was also about 10-15minutes walk to the centre of Magaluf. We got a bus to Palma City one day and this took about 45 minutes and was very crowded. Just across the road from the hotel was a large supermarket and several shops including a pharmacy, there was also a taxi rank and bus stop. Advantages: All round good pick for those wanting Caribbean on a budget. Great beach!
Disadvantages: Probably not quite up to 5* standards like some other hotels, but we didn't mind!

...I stayed at Hotel Palma Real, Varadero, Cuba in September 2005 with a friend. We both had a fantastic holiday. I would rate this as a 3/4 star hotel, as it is typically at the lower end of the pricing for holidays to Varadero. However, don't let this put you off this merely makes it even more value for money! Location# The hotel is situated approximately 150 metres from the beach. Literally cross the road and you are there. Facilities on the beach include sunloungers, parasols, snack bar serving food and drinks, watersports, dance classes. The beach itself is beautiful and is around 20 miles long so you can walk as far as you like. Love palma nova

...I've been to palma nova several times and i love it. If you looking for a nice quiet holiday this is the place, theres things to do though as well, plenty of shops, and nice bars, usually with some sort of music every night, if you want abit of nightlife, maguluf is just down the road if you want some clubbing? personally i didn't like maguluf because the people who work at the bars are stood outside mithering you to come in. There is one trip i'd recommened, its a one day trip to 3 different place, the first was a market, which was quite good if you like getting a bargain etc, then the was a ceramics shop, and then a town before the caves of darch, which is nice, you walk down lots of stairs, then you sit in a room, where there is a romantic show on water, and los of lights going off....

PALMA NOVA PARADISE

Advantages: short flight from uk, fabulous island, heaps to do,gorgeous scenery, spotlessly clean
Disadvantages: can't think of any!

...We went to Palma Nova in September/October 2005 for 15 days and had the most fabulous holiday. This was the first time we'd been to Palma Nova so didn't know what to expect but we were more than happy with our choice of resorts. Our trip started at Glasgow Airport and we arrived in Palma 2 hours and 20 minutes later. We arrived at 7-30pm and after the long walk through the airport to collect our luggage, we got a taxi to our accommodation. This took around 40 minutes and cost us 34 euros (we later, on our return taxi to airport realised that we'd been taken the long route as the return journey took around 30 mins and cost us 22 euros!). Our accommodation was rented privately through a friend who owns an appartment so we were able to save on accommodation costs. We used the bus service a lot. Regular buses go all over the island...

Palma The Beautiful Med

Advantages: Nice beaches good and quiet for young and old, couples and familys.
Disadvantages: Pricey from july to start of december can be alittle too quiet for young couples.

...I went to Palma in august this year on my honeymoon. It was great i really enjoyed the holiday. It was my first time abroard and also my first flight. The flight was quite short so for all of those who are not keen on flying, this is a good choice. The flight took two hours when we arrived at palma airport(the airport is huge) you got outside and at two in the morning the heat was still there. We got a taxi transfer from the airport to our hotel which cost around 27 pounds each way and at that time in the morning, and given the fact Palma Nova is approxamatly 40 minutes from the airport this was the easiest way. our flight was through thomson but shop about to get the best deal. our transfer was connected with the hotel which was through Med Hotels. We arrived at the hotel which was the Residential Vora Nova it was bright modern...

PALMA. WE DIDNT GET PALMED OFF

Advantages: SPACIOUS, FRIENDLY PEOPLE
Disadvantages: VERY BUSY, LONG WALK

...any windows alot of the time, and a few areas were coned off as some areas of the floor were being re-tiled. This wouldnt put us off going again, it passed abit of the time before flying, and by the time we had a bite to eat and a drink it was only 10 or so minutes til the gate was opened, and we were allowed to board the plane, it was just down 1 flight of stairs onto the bus, then onto the plane again. In conclusion, it was as nice and as pleasing on the eye as the uk airport we had just come from, but at the end of the day, all you want to do is get your bags and be whisked off to your resort, with this in mind (and seeing as this is the airport in palma) i would use this airport again, i wouldnt be put off by what ive said in this report, it was enjoyable. This makes the whole holiday more enjoyable as a whole. Happy flying...

Palma Nova

Advantages: Lovely beach and prom and ideal for children
Disadvantages: Not many shops

...I have recently come back from a week in the resort of Palma Nova on the south of the island. Palma Nova has recently had a fantastic new promenade built, it's really attractive and in local stone. They have been careful to keep the existing palm trees in place and there are plenty of cafes and seats along the way. It runs from one end of Palma Nova to the beginning of Magaluf right along the bay. The resort is a good place for anyone elderly or if you have young children as it's quite flat and easy to walk round. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants and the whole place is clean and fairly fresh. I was disappointed that there weren't more shops as most of them sold the same sort of goods and were full of slightly downmarket souvenirs, but there was an excellent shop which sold lace in all forms (tablecloths etc...

Two types of Palma

Advantages: Large, plenty of shops etc
Disadvantages: Large and it can be a long walk!

...There are 2 types of arrival/departure at Palma International Airport. (PMI) 1. Walkway off into terminal 2. Walk down steps of plane and get bus to terminal. You don't get a choice by the way, it depends on airline as far as I can gather so best check with your airline before you fly so you can be prepared. ~EXPERIENCE 1 (WALKWAY)~ If travelling with children and you have requested that your buggy meets you at the aircraft door - this is not going to happen! It's physically impossible for them to get buggy to you! The walk between walkway and immigration is VERY VERY long - you'll think you'll reach the sea before you reach intended destination. There are moving walkways but these don't generally mix well with young children. If carrying twin bubbas as well as trying to keep an eye on a 4 year old be prepared...
