...We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even though we weren't checking in until really late following a delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression. Melia Pala Atenea Palma de Majorca

Advantages: Ideal for a relaxing break.
Disadvantages: 30 minute walk to the beach if that's your thing

The hotel is located on the Paseo Maritimo in Palma and has excellent views over the marina and Bay of Palma and is about a 20 minute stroll to the centre of Palma. Ideal for visiting the bars and restuarants of the old town at night and the beautiful city of Palma during the day. There is also a good range of bars, cafes etc along the Paseo Maritimo if the 20 minute walk is an issue. The facilities were good especially the pool area which was spotless, had plenty of space and the best pool bar staff I've met in a long time. Heaven in Majorca

Advantages: Quiet location, lovely hotel, brilliant food, private beach.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive and could be a bit quiet.

Voranova Apartments Palma Nova

Advantages: Dirty, old, only cleaned once a week

...The Voranova hotel was about half an hour from the airport and cost about 25euros, split between two, so wasn't too bad as the hotel transfer coach you could also book cost as much together and took about 2 hours stopping at every hotel that existed! The hotel was in a good location, a few minutes walking distance from Palma Nova town centre and the beach. It was also about 10-15minutes walk to the centre of Magaluf. We got a bus to Palma City one day and this took about 45 minutes and was very crowded. Just across the road from the hotel was a large supermarket and several shops including a pharmacy, there was also a taxi rank and bus stop. The Best Laid Plans

I finally chose Palma Nova, a town I had visited with my husband over ten years ago when we had taken the bus from the city of Palma for a look around. We found it a pretty average looking resort at the time, with my husband complaining it was "too British", which is a fair assessment. MARTHA SHOULD BE PROUD!!!

Advantages: lovely apartment, nice pool, great location

...by the beach rather than staying by the pool, we decided this was a bit dodgy, so opted for the next cheapest apartments - Marthas, in Palmanova. We made the mistake (or not) of only looking at the reviews for Marthas after we had booked and paid our money. Basically all reviews pre-2008 or so stated that the place was AWFUL, but apparently the apartments had been renovated around about that time and were brilliant now. Great holiday at the Sol Trinidad

Advantages: Location, location, location
Disadvantages: Noisy for some guests

...We went on holiday to Majorca for 10 days in July and stayed at the Sol Trinidad hotel in Magaluf. We have been to Magaluf in the past and stayed at a Sol hotel which we really liked and so decided to give this one a go. We booked it off teletext and stayed half-board. The hotel has 375 rooms spread over 9 floors, we had a pool view room on the forth floor which was quite handy as the two (very small!) lifts were out of action a few times and I was grateful for only having to climb four flights of stairs. It is situated a 2 minute walk across the road to the beach, and the road along the front of the hotel has lots of shops (clothes, souvenirs, booze, fags etc) and the road behind mainly bars and BCM the major nightclub where Radio 1 were doing there live weekend while we were there. Is it a Hotel? yes! Is it the Can pastilla? No!

Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Intermittent hot water, ants! Quiet! very small rooms.

...than I had taken with me and I left mine to be added to the library at the end of the week. The location is a huge advantage, 70 metres from a quiet, beautiful white sandy beach leading into warm clear waters that had very small waves, the sea here is safe for children as the beach shelves very little, in fact I had to wade out a long way to get deep enough to swim but it really was lovely. The area is flat and so wonderful for walking or cycling, you can hire bicycles, tandems or those things that four people ride around on locally, you can take a bus or taxi into Palma itself or you can hire a car and explore the beautiful island of Majorca, we have done all of those in the past so didn't this time. The taxi rank is just a few minutes walk away or the hotel staff on duty will phone for a taxi if asked. I don't recommend this though...

...As many of you know I was lucky enough to be given a holiday as part of my Christmas so I thought I would share with you where we stayed. We left on the 19th of January for one week half board in the three star hotel D'Or Tobago Palma Nova Majorca. The hotel is on nine floors and has 198 twin/ triple rooms catering for approximately 416 people when full. It is situated on a slight hill 50 metres from the beach and every room has a sea view there are no rooms to the back of the hotel. I believe the area we were in is actually Torre nova which is on the hill between Palma Nova and Magaluf. . Sol Guadalupe, The Place To Be!

Advantages: Great entertainment, great location, great food.
Disadvantages: Some people are never satisfied with what the staff do.
