Lose yourself in Pan's Labyrinth

Advantages: Gripping, imaginative, looks stunning
Disadvantages: Very violent, not what you'd expect from the trailers

Pan's Labyrinth is the latest film from acclaimed director Guilermo del Toro, the Mexican director of Blade II and Hellboy. Anolon Roast Pan

Advantages: Very hard wearing, heavy feel, non-stick
Disadvantages: Poor heat distribution

...This entry level roasting pan is certainly high quality. Although it is not a high end product there are a number of similarly priced roasting pans that would fall apart years before this hardy thing would. Not only is this a good sized pan that will happily take a large chicken or piece of beef or lamb but it will do well for roasting vegetables or other such food. The pan is very hard wearing and you'd struggle to scratch off the non-stick with normal wear and tear. This puts it well above other competitors in my opinion. Since it is not a high end copper or multi-layer aluminium roasting pan, the heat dispertion is not fantastic in my opinion but this is to be expected with a pan at such a reasonable price. This is, in my opinion money well spent. A high quality, very durable, entry level roasting pan....

The magical soundtrack to the best film ever; Pan's Labyrinth

Advantages: The most successful soundtrack in complimenting a film
Disadvantages: ....None that I can see

...When I was watching Pan's Labyrinth, I have to say that I was so enamoured by its artistic beauty and integrity, that I was unaware, or at least to say I did not fully appreciate, that which would become my favourite film soundtrack ever. I do not even suppose that not noticing the score which accompanied Guillermo del Toro's masterpiece is necessarily a bad thing - it simply pays testament to how well the film was crafted. Now, enough of my inane and bias opinions of this - on with some objective commentaries. The job of capturing the essence of Pan's Labyrinth musically was given to Acadamey-Award nominated composer Javier Navarette. He is a relatively unknown individual, though he has collaborated with Del Toro in the past with the 'Devil's Backbone' of which I was not as impressed with. However, he has really put himself...

Disney Classic Peter Pan!

Advantages: 'Disney', what more can I say...
Disadvantages: Not as dark as the original tale

...a little from the original book by JM Barrie (which I am led to understand is much darker and more sinister). However Disney has a reputation for glossing over the more horrible scenes, and putting in a jolly song here and there that makes for excellent family viewing. The story centres around the Darling family, with a loving mother, and an angry and somewhat menacing father. More astute viewers may have recognised that through out versions of Peter Pan, the actor playing the villain Captain Hook also plays the role of Mr Darling. Their children, Wendy, Michael and John are met by the cheeky green-clad figure of Peter Pan, 'the boy who never grew up' who leads them on a journey of excitement and adventure to 'Never Land'. There are memorable characters such as Tinkerbell (now a huge Disney merchandising icon... I used to have tinkerbell...

Pans Labyrinth - A unique magic rarely expressed.

Advantages: Complex story line and beautiful cretures
Disadvantages: In Spanish and subtitles can move too fast

...My first appeal to Pan's Labyrinth was the sight of the creatures, especially the creature with eye balls in his hand. I was expecting to see a long entirely fantastical with no real life story line. I was then told shortly after it came onto the big screen that it was not what I had imaged and was put off watching it until recently. Firstly let me warn you its in Spanish with English subtitles - but you can quickly get over that. The plot is complex whilst readable. You can imagine what will happen next but are excited about finding out how del Toro will guide us there. The main character, a young girl named Ofelia moves with her pregnant mother to stay with her new step father, an army captain during the Spanish Civil War. She moves into a mill, quite self contained with other characters around. A kind maid, a doctor...
