...I bought this portable DVD player because I had seen positive reviews about it, and wanted to see it for myself! I'm certainly not disappointed with it and I'm glad I did buy it! What stands out the most to me is the battery life. It lasts for hours! I heard the battery lasts for 12 hours, but found this untrue. Although it didn't last 12 hours I was still pleased with the battery life as it lasts enough time for me. You could probably still watch about 3 films without needing to re-charge. If you only listen to music on the DVD player, the battery lasts a lot longer than when you are watching films. The screen is 8.5 inches and the LCD screen is attached to an arm which allows more flexibility when your adjusting the angle you want. The screen can be tilted as very far back, about so far back it is flat against the base! So...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Advantages: Light, portable
Disadvantages: Only 3 hours playback time, picture not brilliant

...problems there. I've operated it in the dark. I found the screen to be in perfect colour balance already, although it can be adjusted as necessary. Discs that can be played It has multi-format playback for DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, -RW/+RW/-R/+R, CD, CD-R/RW and HighMAT and also has DivX playback (although I'm afraid I have no idea what this means). I haven't used it for anything but DVDs and am not likely to, so I can't comment on the other uses. Using in a car Panasonic portable DVD players are apparently the best for in-car use. I've only used it the once, but it was very easy to set up. The player comes with a headrest mounting bracket, which was easy to set up in the car - although I would recommend that parents don't leave their children to do it because it is probably a bit to fiddly for little hands.
