...This unit is one of the many available set-top boxes for receiving and recording freeview digital programmes, for those who don't use satellite TV and don't have an integrated TV. Panasonic, I believe, has a generally good brand name, and when I noticed this model was being advertised but was unavailable for several months, I naturally assumed there were a few minor bugs that were being corrected. At first, the unit seemed to work quite well, apart from a few idiosyncrasies. For example, changing channel would take about five seconds, which in electronic terms is a long time. And if I started to record a current programme, as opposed to scheduling the recording in advance, there was no way of stopping recording, other than turning off the power. Advantages: Perfect picture

Review of Panasonic Lumix FS7

Panasonic Lumix TZ6, Versatile compact with great image quality

Advantages: Fantastic little camera with 12 x zoom & 10.1MP (better than TZ5), but cheaper than TZ7
Disadvantages: No HD movie mode, not very cheap

... There are very few other 12 x zoom compacts (I can only think of the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS), so the Panasonic Lumix TZ range pretty much has the market to itself. The TZ6 has the advantage over the TZ5 with and extra 1 megapixel and 2 x zoom, as well as a slightly different styling. As far as I have seen the TZ6 is not thatmuch more expensive than the TZ5, so I found it worth getting the newer model. The TZ7 is the most recent release in the series and is almost exactly the same as the TZ6 both with 10.1 MP and 12x zoom - having seen them together in a shop, they look like carbon copies. The main difference on the TZ7 is the new HD movie mode, which is a feature I would like, but I can't justify spending a significant amount extra for this one feature, as still image quality is the most important aspect for me. Panasonic Lumix TZ6 - metal-bodied compact zoom

Advantages: Sturdiness, Ease of use, Autofocus Tracking
Disadvantages: Overshadowed by the TZ7, Tries to do everything for you

...I always find it a little strange when a company releases two similar models at the same time, especially when the price difference is only around £40. The Panasonic Lumix TZ6 and TZ7 are similar stable-mates, with the TZ7 being the superior of the two. Having said that, the extra features of the TZ7 are things I can quite comfortably live without, such as the superior video capability with stereo sound, an HDMI output, and the ability of the camera to recognise up to 15 of your friends when they appear in a picture. Why would I want that? I don't have 15 friends - and even if I did, I'm sure I could remember them myself! I Admit It, I'm A Panasonic Loaf Lover!

Advantages: Great black levels, terrific contrast and detail, freesat tuner

Panasonic offer this in the form of a Freesat tuner which unlike Freeview gives the viewer a greater number of free television channels to choose from. Providing of course you have a Freesat dish installed on your house. If you don't already have this installed, then you shouldn't fear because the analogue tuner offers a smooth natural coloured picture. However where this television will really shine is when playing either DVD's or Blu Ray discs. I had standard Sky Plus before I bought this TV so I decided I would upgrade to Sky Plus HD. I have to say that I was really impressed with the picture quality of this screen, whether you are watching a freeview broadcast or Sky you will get a crisp noise free picture which has great blacks and copes well with fast paced scenes which can sometimes cause a slight blur with some televisions.
