Always the way, but whenever I go shopping for something electrical, some guy in a suit always sways me towards something different. Which I should really learn from and just buy online, its usually cheaper anyway. Panasonic Lumix TZ6, Versatile compact with great image quality

Advantages: Fantastic little camera with 12 x zoom & 10.1MP (better than TZ5), but cheaper than TZ7
Disadvantages: No HD movie mode, not very cheap

Panasonic Lumix TZ6 - metal-bodied compact zoom

Advantages: Sturdiness, Ease of use, Autofocus Tracking
Disadvantages: Overshadowed by the TZ7, Tries to do everything for you

...I always find it a little strange when a company releases two similar models at the same time, especially when the price difference is only around £40. The Panasonic Lumix TZ6 and TZ7 are similar stable-mates, with the TZ7 being the superior of the two. Having said that, the extra features of the TZ7 are things I can quite comfortably live without, such as the superior video capability with stereo sound, an HDMI output, and the ability of the camera to recognise up to 15 of your friends when they appear in a picture. Panasonic Lumix DMC FS3-Simple and quality

...I am no photography expert I must admit, so when looking for a digital camera whilst in New York, i asked the shopkeeper for some assistance and he reccomended me this panasonic lumix camera. I have been more than happy with his reccomendation ever since, having found the camera very easy to use, but also capable of taking very high quality photographs. I would reccomend this above Samsung and Fuji cameras I have had in the past. The zoom is excellent, very defined, and the camera offers a burst feature, which allows you to take a series of photos, excellent for a moving object, and then choose your favourite one. Mind you at that focal length it becomes a real test for the Image Stabilisation system and a test that it fails, sadly. Without the converter the image stabiliser works pretty well and using a tripod has to be accepted with anything over the standard lens. Which makes what I am about say absolutely surprising. Panasonic have produced one of the longest digital lenses on the market yet they do not fit a remote shutter release facility on the FZ18; incredible! Just which of the designers made this omission? To use your long lens and tripod you have to make do with a Universal shutter release adapter Velcroed round the camera body.
