The best electric shaver in the world?

Advantages: Brilliantly made, good performance, unique self-cleaning feature
Disadvantages: Quite expensive and needs cleaner cartridges from time to time

...My 10 year old shaver finally expired and I thought, this time I will buy the best one I can find. I looked at some rotary shavers, but I am not convinced they shave as closely as a standard foil shaver. So then I looked for the most expensive foil shavers I could find on the grounds that they should be the best, and at least they should have the most interesting features. The search narrowed down very quickly to the Braun Activator 8595. The 8595 is a premium product with a retail price approaching £185, though significant discounts can be found online. It is currently the flagship of the Braun range. It is a very solid, good looking, well made piece of kit in brushed metal, with simple controls. It has a NiMH battery which I hope should last a long time, with its "intelligent battery management" system. It is quiet, it works well...

Philips Electric Shaver

Advantages: Built In Conditioner, quiet, stylish, effective
Disadvantages: Bit of a hassle to clean

...rechargable, and the shaver comes with everything that is needed for this. Including, a little stand so that the shaver can stand upright. The accessories are very useful and practical. Everytime you use th shaver you have to clean it under warm running water for 30 seconds, which i suppose is neccesary, but if you are getting ready for work, then 30 seconds seems like a long time. One of the other accessories is a cleaning brush, which doesn't really get into all of the nooks and crannies of the shaver. Overall, so far the product has been very satisfactory and i would recommend it to anyone looking to buy an electric shaver, as it has everything you need and more, with the moisturising conditioner....

Advantages: Power and light just where you need it.
Disadvantages: Not portable like a battery shaver.

...I must mention that most of these have dual voltages, 115 and 220 volts, you simply flick a switch to change over. Some have different outputs for the light, although 60 watts seems to be the norm, this is perfect for a close examination. They all have a diffuser fitted so there is no glare. These light fittings are small and compact, and even attractive, they fit close to the wall and are not too intrusive. The construction is mostly plastic, so they are easy to keep clean. There is no great power drain with these fittings, so you can say you are doing your bit for the environment. They use flourescent light, which is a very good light for showing up faces, useful for women to apply make up, not just for men to shave with. The perfect travelling electric shaver / clippers.

Disadvantages: None, for a travelling shaver.

(I know, hell of a name isn't it). I bought this product from Amazon for £9:99, and when it arrived to say that I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The product measures only 160mm long and 35mm wide so it makes for a perfect travelling grooming set. The hair clippers are also very well designed because with most clippers you have 4/5 attachments depending on what length you wish to cut your hair. My first electric shaver, Not Bad!

Advantages: Lightweight
Disadvantages: Only 60 mins charge time

...This was given to me at christmas and at first i thought i wouldnt like it, however after using it for a while i have begun to like it. Good points: Battery last for 60 minutes which is quite a long time shaving really. It's cordless and can be used anywhere,again very useful. It has it's own docking station which is very useful, i keep it in the same place which makes it less likely that you will lose it. Bad points: Sometimes when shaving around the mouth, you get a little nip on the lip(maybe just my lips, but it can hurt) This is probably user error though. After its first charge it didnt last the full 60 minutes but after charging again it did every time. Overall this, my first electric shaver, is quite a good product. Very light weight and easily portable, come with plug adapter for hotel plugs etc...

...This a great shaver. I've recently been given an Arcitec, so have superseeded this shaver, but will definitly not chuck it, give it away or sell it on ebay; this is my new travel shaver.. I've used this shaver for months, and have never know it pull out a hair, I've never got any sort of rash or irritation from it of any sort, even shaving twice a day (I have been a lifelong dry shaver tho, even with disposible blades!). The batteries last a decent amount of time, and the head itself is easily washable just under a tap; the head collects all the hair for you, making it a nice clean-to-use shaver that you can use anywhere, not just in a bathroom... (i.e. you can use it in the car without making the interior gross for any passengers), and it will safely hold a few shaves worth of trimmings as well, especially if you shave more...

Thwarted in my attempts to go sub-30 minutes from waking to leaving the house, I resigned myself to a 6:00am start every morning. Panasonic Lumix TZ6, Versatile compact with great image quality

Advantages: Fantastic little camera with 12 x zoom & 10.1MP (better than TZ5), but cheaper than TZ7
