Panasonic RP-HC 500 noise reducing headphones

Advantages: shuts out background noise, allows lowr volume, decent sound, removable cord
Disadvantages: slightly chunky, lack of lower bass

...Anyone who has to travel to any extent whether it's by train, plane or bus will know how noisy the background can get and how high you have to have the volume to allow you to make out what you're listening to, especially with spoken word material like podcasts. Over time, these volume levels are both bad for your ears as well as being anti-social to other passengers. There are plenty of headphones that claim to be noise-reducing or noise-cancelling but in practice, most are just designed to fill your ear canals more snugly. Some do have an element of proper noise cancelling via electronics but for some time now the benchmark has been the excellent Bose range although with prices of £250 or more, these are out of most people's price range. Panasonic Lumix FS7

Advantages: Perfect picture

I have owned a number of pairs of said earphones over the past two or three years, and inevitably, eventually they break down (normally the wires get frayed or something, and so you receive audio out of only one ear). The durability of the earphones is compromised also by my habit of wrapping the cord around the iPod itself (apparently a no-no, but I've never found a sufficient convenient alternative). Panasonic Lumix TZ6, Versatile compact with great image quality

Advantages: Fantastic little camera with 12 x zoom & 10.1MP (better than TZ5), but cheaper than TZ7

Panasonic Lumix TZ6 - metal-bodied compact zoom

Advantages: Sturdiness, Ease of use, Autofocus Tracking
Disadvantages: Overshadowed by the TZ7, Tries to do everything for you

...I always find it a little strange when a company releases two similar models at the same time, especially when the price difference is only around £40. The Panasonic Lumix TZ6 and TZ7 are similar stable-mates, with the TZ7 being the superior of the two. Having said that, the extra features of the TZ7 are things I can quite comfortably live without, such as the superior video capability with stereo sound, an HDMI output, and the ability of the camera to recognise up to 15 of your friends when they appear in a picture. I Admit It, I'm A Panasonic Loaf Lover!

...The apple ipod earphones come as standard with all apple ipod products but you can also purchase them from official apple dealers and outlets for around £15-£20. I used my ipod earphones for a few weeks after I got my ipod but as soon as I found a suitable replacement, I got rid of them. The sound quality is very poor, I had to turn my ipod up to full volume (even with the volume limiter off) before I could hear the music properly. The bass sounds I got from these earphones was also very poor, a problem which was not helped by the volume required as it distorted the sound quite a lot.
