These Streets by Paolo Nutini- what a great listen!

Advantages: Good relaxing music, Interesting storytelling lyrics, consistent standard
Disadvantages: Sometimes get a bit repetitive, Only 10 tracks on album

...rather than having a few favourites and just skipping the other (which lets be honest makes the album a bit of a waste of money) The tracks are definitely similar but I wouldn't say they all sound the same, like some people seem to claim. My favourite track would probably be Rewind, this is because it has a really catchy tune and you will find yourself singing all day, the guitar is great in this too and really compliments Paolo's voice. The guitar is good throughout all of the songs and combines well with the tune of the vocals to create lots of feel good tracks! Not Right Up My Street

Advantages: Some decent bouncy pop songs
Disadvantages: Too much James Blunt style vocal work

Street Life

Advantages: Good quality of tracks
Disadvantages: only 10 songs

...ending. The song topic is funny as the singer travels home to see a 'casual fiend'. Overall I liked the album a lot. Not too many 'filler' songs and there are enough changes in style and pace to keep you interested. Last Request is the big hit of the album and I think Paolo knows this as if you leave the player running after the final song after about 5 minutes you get an acoustic version with is very good and different with the harsher Scottish accent. A reason I enjoyed this album is that so much of it is based around life experiences, however coming from a 19 year old puts a different perspective on things and as the debut album things are still a little raw. A good, chilled out and easy to listen to album....

Streets Ahead of his Years.

...Every once in a while a track is played on the radio that instantly makes you want to know more about the artist. This is what happened to me with Paolo Nutini's first released track 'Last Request' After some research on this 19 year old singer/songwriter from Paisley Scotland I went out and bought his first album 'These Streets' as soon as it was released. I was not disappointed. Something for everyone, a mixture of soul, jazz, acoustica, blues and folk. All wrapped up in a rich, raspy, unique voice but with definite undertones of a Van Morrison or a Rod Stewart. Streets Ahead!

...I was bought this album recently for my birthday and have played it everyday since! The first Paolo Nutini song I heard was Last Request and I loved it, I imagined the singer being a middle aged man from Italy (due to the name) He is actually a 20 year old from Scotland-although his father is Italian. He has no musical training and his big break came at a David Sneddon concert in his home town. David was delayed and Paolo was the winner of an impromptu pop quiz, the prize being a chance to perform while the crowd waited. As he was so popular with the crowd, a member of the audience offered to become his manager (I presume they were already in the business and not some random person!) The rest is history as they say. ...the frame story represents the tragic deaths of a large number of people as a result of the Black Death, the one hundred novellas tackle different issues and range from the light-hearted to the tragic. Among the topics are satirizing the hypocrisy of priests and nuns, and erotic tales that include forbidden relations, deception and cuckoldry. I read this book about three years ago and what amazed me most about it was how widespread its stories are; you will notice that you already know some of the stories from somewhere even before you hear of a book called The Decameron.
