Perfect Paphos

Advantages: Friendly people, cheap food, great atmosphere, hot!
Disadvantages: perhaps too touristy, and will become more so in time

We were able to find out anything we needed about the apartment or the surrounding area in just a quick phone call, and the owner also arranged for some food to be in the apartment ready for our arrival. Last Wednesday my boyfriend and I set off from Gatwick on a GB Airways (subsidiary of BA) flight to Paphos. We had flown with GB Airways before and to be honest, they weren?t our first choice of airline. (On a flight to Austria we had to turn around half way there because the plane hadn?t been de-iced properly and then had to sit in Gatwick for 6 hours waiting for another plane to be ready! Review of Paphos (Cyprus)

Paphos for all season Holidays.

Advantages: It is very friendly, drive on the Left hand side, and mostly speak English
Disadvantages: You can't lay on the beaches in the winter, and the evenings are cold.

...I have just returned home after a couple of weeks in Paphos. This is my seventh visit to Paphos over 3 years. This time it was very different. Being my first visit since Cyprus changed over to Euros in Jan 2008, I was amazed to notice the changes that had already been made. The Harbour had changed almost beyond recognition. For those of you who have already visited this area, you are in for a shock of delight. The harbour sea front has now gone pedestrian. Gone the noisy buses, the taxis parked all along the sea front. the shabby little shops have now been replaced with smart boutiques and gift shops. Restaurants are modern clean and inviting. Paphos in February? Never again!

Advantages: some decent weather
Disadvantages: chips with everything!

...Well, we have just spent a week in Paphos and I have to say that unfortunately, in the middle of February there really isn't a lot to recommend it! Firstly, let me talk about the weather! Well the first four days of our holiday we spent freezing and stuck away in our hotel room in an attempt to get warm! I am sure we probably had about as much rain and the temperatures were as low as it was at home! Brrr! The later part of the week has been much warmer, which makes me see why so many people might choose Paphos as a winter destination,but the fact that you cannot rely on the weather here, really makes it feel as hit and miss as a weekend in Cornwall in August! Another problem seems to be that at this time of year there is really not that much to do. There is a lovely but small bird park which is well worth a visit for half a day but...

Used Europcar at Paphos Airport

Advantages: Ease of booking. Ease of collection & drop off. Upgraded car.
Disadvantages: Lots of dents and scratches. Radio didn't work properly.

...We recently prebooked a hire car from Europcar on the internet for collection at Paphos Airport. Very straight forward booking via the internet and was sent email confirmation very promptly. You need to print this out and present this on collection. The collection was very straight forward. The Europcar desk at Paphos airport is directly infront of you when you come through Customs. We signed all the paperwork; produced our Passports and Credit Card but had to pay around £12 airport charges and had to pay for a full tank of petrol even though we were only needing the car for 4 days! We were though, upgraded from a small car to a slightly larger car of a Ford Focus. The car had a number of dents and scratches on it but all of these were highlighted on a form given to us with the paperwork. Although the radio didn't seem to work...

Paphos and Tala

Advantages: The Cypriot people, warm and sunny, many things to do and see
Disadvantages: None

...not an isolated village. It is an up-market residential area of Paphos with villa's and well designed, low rise apartments. It is a 10 minute drive down to Paphos harbour with its many historical sites, shops and restaurants, To supermarkets etc is an even shorter drive. If you like golf, then there are three international golf courses within easy reach. Tsada is an easy 15 minute drive away and the other two, not more than 30 minutes. There is speedy access to the coast road as well as to the motorway connecting Paphos to its international airport and to Limassol, Larnaca and roads into the Troodos Mountains. Tala is in the hills and due to this, the temperature is quite afew degrees cooler than at sea level. However, for comfort, make sure that any accomodation that you rent is fully airconditioned. ...I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use. It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km. Arrivals You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. It is popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and Bmibaby and there are flights from many regional airports in the UK such as East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted to name a few. ...Chicago airport. On a recent visit to san Diego, we had to have a stop in Chicago airport for a couple of hours...most of my travelling seems to be spent in airports! It was the busiest airport in the United States until Atlanta became the busiest and it was apparently voted best airport in North America in 2000...that's 8 years ago so i don't know which airport has been winning since then. The airport is 20 miles from downtown Chicago but since we weren't actaully going to Chicago we didn't actally leave the airport so I can't comment on the transport links. **The Terminals** Of course when stuck in an airport these are the places you see most often.
