...the converters, and only for a few quid, but the said salesperson said that they would not work in my case, and offered me another cable, for £30, which was never going to fit, so I thought I\'d try a new parallel port instead. I ordered this, and I was so impressed when it arrived. even for a no-hoper like me, helped by my less-hoper girlfriend, we slotted this into the back of the computer easily, and when it was installed, I didn\'t even need the drivers for my apparently vista-risky printer. All the functions work well, although the software was of course needed for the specialist functions. My mate who is better with all things PC than I came round, and apparently the port tests at 2Mbps - 33% faster than it is rated for. All in all, a great card for those need a - or an extra - parallel port :)...

  Drive Within The Parallel Lines.

Advantages: Much better than the last driver game. Modable cars.
Disadvantages: Quite a short game, hard to drive as the roads are packed with traffic.

There was no doubt that they had been heavily influenced by the new wave of New York Punk Bands that had emerged in the middle of the seventies and their first Album had been very well received. Its follow up Plastic Letters however was not quite so warmly received although it had given the Band their UK breakthrough on the singles chart with its two singles, Denis (number 2) and (I'm always touched by your) Presence, Dear (number 10). A change of direction was needed for their third Album, something that would drop their Punk tag in favour for something much more experimental, and more commercially acceptable to the masses. Parallel Lines

Advantages: Fascinating stories that we don't normally hear.
Disadvantages: Too focused on Davenport, struggles with ending.

...I'm slightly cynical about the story of the creation of Parallel Lines. From watching the film, one is given the impression that it all just fell into place, and a documentary was the outcome. The more weathered viewer though may look at the film, and come to the impression that the whole concept was constructed. However, this does not make the stories within the film any less real or honest. Parallel Lines is by documentary filmmaker Nina Davenport, who like so many of her peers, can't seem to resist putting the camera on herself, even if she is also person operating the camera. We follow her as she travels across the US at the end of 2001, to afraid to fly after the events of September 11. ...Port Aventura is in Spain, it is a theme park that is split into five different themes which are China, Far West, Mediterrania, Mexico and Polynesia. These lands are all decorated alike the country they are named after, the attention paid to the decoration is brilliant and it really gives you that fun theme park feeling. There is also a water park called the Costa Caribe which has an in and outdoor pool and some really good rides within it, there are different slides and rafting slides and a nice place to relax and catch a tan in this park. The water park is clean and has pleasant caribean surroundings. This park is only open in the summer period of the year, it can be very busy but is a great place to visit when you are visiting Port Aventura. Bon Vacances at Port Bourgenay

Advantages: Masses to do, something for everyone.
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey in high season

...beyond our budget if it wasn't for the Clubcard vouchers that are worth four times their face value, but after much debate and research we plumped for Port Bourgenay, run by Pierre et Vacances, as it looked like it was in a perfect location, is close to the beach, and there seemed to be a lot to do. It cost somewhere in the region of £1000 for the accommodation (£250 in deals) for seven nights and £300 for the return ferry. ~*~ Location ~*~ We live in the south west, so a Portsmouth - Cherbourg crossing is ideal for us. We always get the earliest ferry (around 9am) so we arrive in France around 3pm which gives us plenty of time to drive to our accommodation and settle in by bed time. Or so I thought! Advantages: Stylish, quiet and a Parallel port !

...Panic ! Panic ! I needed a new printer for my 386 to print out CVs only to find that the Olivetti supplied with my PC had given up the ghost. No problem I thought. I'll just get a new low cost printer from one of the high street retailers. A quick look on the internet for a low cost printer with a parallel port quickly revealed USB. USB everywhere ! The familiar parallel port that I had virtually grown up with had disappeared. Luckily Epson came to the rescue. They seem to have the only low cost inkjet printer on the market with a parallel port [and USB]. I found the cheapest supplier of the Epson C64 to be Comet £61.09 [inc. VAT].
