Disadvantages: not enough time

Ciao
pronounced Chow
Hello
Arriverderci
Aree'veh'dair'chee
Goodbye
This got a laugh and two very large glasses of chilled white wine (dry and refreshing). The waiter also brought a large bowl of black olives, a bowl of green olives and a bowl of small salted biscuit's (a bit like pretzels) . This cost about £12.00 and even though its pricey it was worth it. We sat for half an hour and relaxed. Capri's little Piazzetta is one of the best known squares in Italy and is a great place to sit and relax and do a bit of people watching.

Baroque experience
Advantages: A town to discover
Disadvantages: new to tourism
...Turin is a regal, baroque toy.
Of the early life of this town you can still see the two gates of the roman 'castrum'fortified village): one is the Porta Palatina the other is barely visible because was merged in the Juvara's Palazzo Madama.
Of the medieval life only one complete (half abandoned) house.
The real soul of this town is the essential baroque of the Savoia dinasty. If you want the look and feel of a XVII-XVIII century town, please, visit Turin.
When the Savoia Family (the future kings of Italy) moved from Chambery (France) to Turin they trasformed the little town in a great exposition of their greatness. They call this architectural project 'theatrum sabaudae' the theatre of the Savoia.
They build a major Royal Palace in the centre of the town (Palazzo Reale in piazza Castello) and another in the Parco del Valentino, then...

Go to Chiesa!
Advantages: Chiesa is a good restaurant
Disadvantages: none
...Trento is the capital of the region ?Trentino?, which, together with ?Alto Adige? makes the autonomous region of ?Trentino Alto Adige?. While most of the people living in Trentino are of Italian origin, most of the people living in Alto Adige are of German descent and do not feel themselves belonging to Italy. In the past some extremists used to put bombs here and there in order to gain independence from Italy, or, indeed, rejoin Austria. Trento makes a nice base for exploring the surrounding region, although if you find a nice place in the mountains or hills out of Trento this may be nicer. If you opt for Trento, there are quite a few cheap places you can go to in order to eat. For a splurge, try the restaurant ?Chiesa?, in Parco San Marco. Expect to pay £40 for a good meal, but be assured you will not regret it (especially when you are...

VOLTERRA
Advantages: Lots of history, character and ambience - uncrowded
Disadvantages: None
..., there doesn't seem to much here to interest the visitor - perhaps, after leaving the chaotic crush of San Gimignano, the lack of crowds lulls you into the sense that, because it's relatively quiet and peaceful, that it's not worth visiting. There doesn't seem to be much more than a few shops and bars dotted along a small street leading to the Piazza del Duomo. However, a quick glance around a few corners soon reveals much more.
Probably the oldest sites in Volterra are the remnants of the Etruscan walls which date from the 4th century BC. The wall actually marks the perimeter of the Parco Archeologico Enrico Fiumi - a pleasant garden which forms the highest point in the town. Here you'll find the remains of two Etruscan temples as well as a reservoir built by the Romans.
At one end of the 'Parco', lies the ancient Etruscan gate into...

Orecchiella Park
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...On the opposite side opens up the Orecchiella Park, which lies completely within the Apennines' area. Comparatively limited in size (approximately 52 square kilometres), it is located at a level of 1,200 to 2,000 metres on the Apennines' ridge belonging to Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, where it borders on the Parco del Gigante in the region of Emilia-Romagna. Together with the latter, it forms a protected area of invaluable naturalistic value.

See How the Garden Lies
Advantages: Stunning. Well worth visiting
Disadvantages: Short of its former glories
...when we visited, although it was quite early in the morning and by lunchtime the trickle of tour buses was turning into a torrent. There's a massive car and bus park on the other side of the river from the gardens - fortunately, a road bridge crosses nearby so we didn't have to paddle to it. I expect the car park is there to cater for the visitors to the Parco di Pinocchio, but it's not exclusive and it's also free (I never paid to use it anyway).
Suitably 'disencarred', we strolled past the Pinnochio Park entrance and the myriad souvenir stalls to the entrance to the Gardens. Entrance is 5 euros but if you buy a combined ticket for here and the Pinnochio Park (which we did) it works out at only 3 euros. This doesn't seem like an awful lot of money...and it's not.
The gardens are laid out like a botanical amphitheatre, with the stage...

Hot Diggety!
Advantages: Good film - if you don't expect too much
Disadvantages: Could be a lot better.
...The House on The Edge Of The Park is one of the Vipco Screamtime Collection, a collection of previously banned films. Banned from where I'm not sure as I have seen far worse things in modern cinema.
House....or La Casa Sperduta Nel Parco to give it it's equally snappy Italian title is directed by Ruggero Deodato who I am not familiar with, despite my love of these films, although he did direct Cannibal Holocaust which by all accounts is a true video nasty, so one I have steered clear from.
The story starts with Alex (David Hess) who rapes and kills a woman in her car, steals her necklace and wears it as a memento. We then jump to the present time where Alex and his friend Ricky (Giovanni Lombardo Radice) work in a garage. They are just getting ready for a night out 'Boogying' (yes this film really shows it's age at times) when...

Eastern Liguria: Cinque Terre ( I lived there!)
Advantages: Beatiful places
Disadvantages: not live there
.... The inhabitants of these places, in fact, have torn land to cultivate the mountain centimeter per centimeter. Do you think some terraces are so impervious that until a few years ago the harvest was done by boat because the only way to reach them was by sea. In recent years, thanks to economic performance given by local wines, the terraces, which in the 70 and 80 were still abandoned, were recovered and with the use of the monorail made more easily accessible. The creation of the Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre has encouraged this process and has helped recover the towns and trails that unite them. Among these the most famous is certainly the Way of Love, a walk on a path paved and flat overlooking the sea that unites Manarola and Riomaggiore. The path then continues to Monterosso with difficulty gradually increasing.
Now I will give you some tips...

Venues we know and love!
Advantages: Huge measures!
Disadvantages: Errr......huge measures!
...Just came back from a weekend of excess in Milan. The bad news is that of the fours clubs we visited (and numerous bars) I can't remember many names or addresses - but this is what emerges from the mists of my hungover memory...
"Old-fashioned" in Parco Sempione. Don't let the name confuse you - this is clearly a hot-spot for the fashionable and cool. (We only got in by having a friend who speaks enough Italian to persuade some far better-dressed people to pretend we were their friends). Very cool decor, dancy music, ridiculously strong G&T...
"Sens Egal" - via Fiori (Brera area). Good bar for sitting outside and having unbelievably strong cocktails.
"Speakeasy" in Via CastelFidero - great for Sunday brunch (apart from the fact that they are heavily sponsored by Nescafe)
We also went to a Trattoria that I...
