...**** Quality Hotel Pierre Arc de Triomphe Paris**** I stayed in this hotel the second time i visited this city.There are 25 rooms,all en-suite ,single,double and twin. **Location/Getting there** This hotel is located very near the arc de triomphe and down one of the streets is a shuttle bus service which will take you to the airports,both Charles De Gauile and Orily.It is also near a metro stop and a taxi rank.This is how long it will take you to get to te hotel from the following places From the Champs Elysées : 10 minutes walk From the Palais des Congres : 10 minutes walk From Opera : Direct access by the ligne number 3(2 minute walk). **Reception/staff** I didn't think that this looked very impressive.There was apparently a bar but this was an area with two seats and small work top.Unimpressed.Checking in was okay but...

A great Paris hotel

Advantages: Perfect location, excellent access to Metro and sights.
Disadvantages: Bedroom doors bang loudly when they shut.

I just left it up to my boyfriend and his dad to choose the accommodation as I knew nothing about this city at the time, except that it had the Eiffel Tower! When we looked it up on the internet there were a few flattering photographs, and because it was so close to the Gare du Nord (where we arrive from the Eurostar) it seemed like the perfect little hotel. It's in a great location for a hotel that isn't too pricey, or too cheap. Location It's located in the heart of Paris, it's a lovely traditional looking building and is in the immediate neighbourhood of the amazing St Quention Market. One of the best sellers was created by ernest Beaux- Evening in Paris(later known as Soir de Paris.Ernest Beaux might be remembered more for chanel no5 fame. In 1992,the perfume was re-formulated and sold as eau de parfum(this is the strongest mixture of eau,usually containing 15-18 percent of perfume oil,mixed with an 80-90 percent grade alcohol)concentrations in a midnight blue half-moon shaped bottle original launch was in 1929..... The scent is a sweet floral mixture containing violets,tilleul,clover,lilac,rose,jasmine,vetiver,styrax,cedar and vanilla with like fruity notes too. The perfume will last very well although I find it a little too sweet a scent...

Lyon- France's alternative city break.

...can go to maybe take a little break from Lyon and in turn enable yourself to cheaply visit other parts of the world. One of the most attractive destinations from Lyon is Geneva. It costs around 40 Euros per person for an open day return to Geneva. Remember though that if you do plan on going here, you will need to take your passport and some Swiss Francs as of course the Swiss have not taken the Euro. Geneva is well worth a look; it is a beautiful city, though does lie on the expensive side. The train stops in the hear of Geneva at 'Gare Cornavin'. For more information on Geneva and for maps etc, go to their tourist board's website at www.genevatourism.ch. Staying within the French borders, St Etienne, Marseille and Bordeaux are not too far away. Further, you could even push the limits and get to Paris on the TGV, though this is...

Budget stay to spend most time outside the hotel

Advantages: Close to the Metro station, 2 stops away from the Bastille, lively surroundings, plenty of local shops
Disadvantages: Very basic and functional, small with tatty decor, scary lift

The offer being buy one get one free and for a price of £1.29 pence, which gets you the two cakes, I think it is well worth it. The Lyons Battenberg cake has been around for years and has been one of my favourite cake time treats for many a year. The fact that this cake is so sweet really satisfies me as I have a very bad case of sweet toothitis. The Battenberg Cake is made up of a super soft sponge centre that is in two different colours and four separate squares of colour giving the cake a chequered look.
