...I have now visited Paris twice as a tourist, both in the February half term, visiting many of the city's attractions. I feel it would be helpful for people visiting Paris to have a guide of practicalities regarding their stay. TRANSPORT ********** If you live close to London, by far the easiest method of travel to Paris is by the Eurostar. Direct from Waterloo, it travels in 2 hours to the centre of Paris, to the Gare du Nord station. It may be pricey, but it is cheaper than flying, and a lot faster than driving and having to get a ferry. However, for the sake of convenience, if you live a long way from London, it may be faster to fly, although I have heard that an extension is being built so that it is possible to join the Eurostar at York (this may just be a rumour though). ...So as to continue my set of opinions about Paris, I’ll talk you about the way to get in and around Paris. To do just like inhabitants, the easiest way is to use public transports. They are really developed In Paris and it’s the cheapest way to move in Paris except if you prefer walking. To travel in Paris you’ll need to buy tickets, the cheapest way is to buy a “ carnet” of ticket, a “carnet” is a pack of ten ticket, it cost 9,30 euros almost 6,3 pounds. A ticket cost 1,30 euros a piece, almost 85p. In fact if you stay a while in Paris, you should buy a pass that would allow you to use every public transport as much as you want. Such pass are valid for a week end or a week their price is various according to how long they are valid and how far you are allowed to go with it. This hotel is perfect for any occasion, whether you're staying the night before/after your flight, or looking for somewhere to stop-over to visit Paris city centre! Situated 2.5km from the CDG airport, this 304 room hotel is perfect for families on a budget. The prices are standard for Ibis htoels, with a room costing between 66-84 Euros (£45-56) during the week - depending on the time of year and 66 Euros (£45) at weekends. ...The first time I ever visited Paris I stayed at this hotel. I just left it up to my boyfriend and his dad to choose the accommodation as I knew nothing about this city at the time, except that it had the Eiffel Tower! When we looked it up on the internet there were a few flatting photographs, and because it was so close to the Gare du Nord (where we arrive from the Eurostar) it seemed like the perfect little hotel. It's in a great location for a hotel that isn't too pricey, or too cheap. Location It's located in the heart of Paris, it's a lovely traditional looking building and is in the immediate neighbourhood of the amazing St Quention Market. This is a indoor market, it's hard to miss as it's a large metal stucture and is quite impressive and attractive. It's a good place to buy 'real' French food, although... Read review

...As I said in one of my recent opinions I do not think littlemissy and I would have had such a good holiday in Paris if we hadn’t had a copy of this book. The reason we went for this particular though for a very simple reason though was that littlemissy’s parents had used copies of this book on trips to Dublin and Prague and after those trips they swore by them. Therefore I was duly appointed by the other half to obtain a copy of the Paris guide for our journey. Now I had not really looked at travel guides before so I had a look at a couple of others before making my decision and they really did not impress at all. They were all around 600 pages and look pretty shoddily printed. The Eyewitness Guide to Paris was a work of art in comparison.
